When a generational talent walked through the doors of the WNBA, the league took notice. With an entry so grand, all eyes were fixated on the 2024 no.1 overall pick, Caitlin Clark. After all, she carried swarms of crowds into the drafts last season. But the sudden surge in media attention towards the league and a viewership uproar was just the tip of the iceberg. Clark’s contributions to the league and the Indiana Fever ran much deeper than that. And what better way to celebrate than by accounting for her journey!

Well, popular national journalist and commentator, Christine Brennan, officially released a book on the Fever guard. Titled “On Her Game: Caitlin Clark and the Revolution in Women’s Sports,” the book chronicles Clark’s victorious run with Iowa Hawkeyes to becoming the undisputed face of women’s basketball. Launched on July 08, the biography also exposed the league’s vulnerabilities and stereotypes surrounding Caitlin Clark.

Despite being a controversial read, Brennan recently shared a major update. Breaking the news on X (former Twitter), Brennan shared a photograph of The New York Times newspaper with the caption, “How fun this is to see it in the New York Times print edition today. Thanks to everyone who bought, is buying, and will buy this book. I’m so grateful. Thank you, ⁦Scribner Books.” Well, the Scribner is an official publishing house known for generating some of the best reads since 1846.

Sharing her latest achievement online, Brennan shared that the Clark biography is receiving widespread recognised in non-fiction books this year. The New York Times shared a list of print and hardcover sellers mid-season. And guess what! “On Her Game” ranked second-highest selling book in the non-fiction category. But this was not the only achievement. The newspaper also released a combined list of print and e-book bestsellers recently. Needless to say, Brennan’s book on Clark stood in third place in the non-fiction category.

While Clark’s journey is nothing short of a spectacle, the success of the book largely cements her impact on the league and in the lives of common citizens. After being sidelined for the third time in her second season, Clark’s dominance and presence on the hardwood leave a lasting impression on the opponents and her teammates. But as she tends to her right groin injury, can Indiana Fever gain an upper hand against the Chicago Sky? Guess, we’ll have to wait and watch.

Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky to miss their stars ahead of the clash

As the third-ranked team in the Eastern Conference division prepares to rock the Wintrust Arena in a few hours from now, the roster landed without its star athlete, Caitlin Clark. Known as the so-called rivals, the Fever guard would be sitting out this game too, owing to her impending right groin injury.

While Caitlin Clark will most probably rejoin the roster by August 12, there is some latest news surrounding our Chi-town Barbie. After missing the Seattle Storm game, Sky athlete Angel Angel’s playing status remains questionable. The move comes after the forward player suffered from a back injury right after the Minnesota Lynx matchup.

However, Chicago Sky head coach Tyler Marsh cleared the air surrounding Reese. “Angel’s still day-to-day today. We don’t want to push it too much with the back injury,” HC Marsh said ahead of the tipoff against the Indiana Fever. We want to be careful with that. But she’s progressing as well, so it’s day-to-day.”

On being asked if she practiced half-court yesterday, Marsh justified her injury and how the team is planning to let Reese practise individually. “No, she has gained her work, but no contact drills for her today,” Marsh added. With the locker room cautiously treading around Reese, her practice video highlights her readiness to return.

If Angel Reese returns to her depleted locker room, she can team up with Kamilla Cardoso for much-needed depth. With Courtney Vandersloot, Ariel Atkins, and Michaela Onyenwere sidelined, the Sky relies on Reese to rally the team. But Sky’s victory chances look bleak as the Fever are ready for a grueling showdown without their star player.
