With Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on to the 2026 playoffs, the guard’s long-term boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, recently had the privilege of meeting voting rights activist Stacey Abrams. The basketball coach was clearly impressed, the interaction leaving him speechless, as he reacted only with emojis.

McCaffery posted a picture of his meeting with Abrams to his Instagram story, with a silent reaction of two emojis. The post was reposted on X and went viral, gaining over six thousand views in four hours, owing to his reaction.

What fans can infer is that McCaffery is expressing his appreciation for all that Abrams has done in her political and professional career. And that appreciation is valid, considering what she has achieved in her life. Abrams’ political career began when she sought election to the Georgia House of Representatives from the 84th District back in 2006. She ended up winning the race with 51% of the votes.

She followed this with a run at the governor’s office in 2018. Abrams became the first black woman nominated for governor from a major party, winning the Democratic nomination. She even secured a nomination from former U.S. President Barack Obama.

This isn’t the first time Abrams has broken the glass ceiling, as she was also the first African American female student to be named valedictorian at her high school, per a report by the BBC. Abrams is also academically sound, holding a degree in law from Yale University. But she hasn’t allowed her serious professional life to affect her personal passions.

Abrams is a published author as well under the pen name Selena Montgomery. She has penned several legal thrillers, beginning with While Justice Sleeps, which she published under her own name. She also wrote two other thrillers, Coded Justice and Rogue Justice, all part of the same series. Her passion for the written word extends beyond fiction, as Abrams has also written three non-fiction, politically motivated books, along with two children’s novels to educate young minds.

Abrams’ most important role came when she decided to lead grassroots mobilization for the voting process, per the National Civil Rights Museum website. She focused her efforts on “fairness and equity” in the voting process and made dedicated efforts towards voter registration and engagement.

Abrams’ legal consulting firm, Sage Works, has previously represented the Atlanta Dream, a team where Caitlin Clark’s rival Angel Reese currently plays. Abrams is the CEO of the firm. Clark’s boyfriend didn’t seem to concern himself with this, as Abrams’ contributions to society far outweigh this. The Fever guard’s partner found himself starstruck in Abrams’ presence, as is visible from his Instagram post.

The Dream are currently fifth in the WNBA standings, with a record of 21-13. Just above them, in fourth, is Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever, with a record of 23-12. The Fever won the last exchange between the two teams on August 16. Both teams are now in the running for the 2026 WNBA playoffs, and the fans will be looking for more showdowns of the generational rivalry between CC and Reese.
