The WNBA’s CBA negotiations are far from reaching an agreement, despite the first in-person meeting between the league and the players’ union since the standoff. The proposals of the two parties remain starkly at odds, and uncertainties continue to haunt the league for now. Amid this period of instability, the players’ union has found a voice in Caitlin Clark, who has recently shared a subtle message that has drawn strong reaction from fans.

Clark has always maintained a positive sentiment throughout the WNBA’s CBA negotiations. For the Indiana Fever guard, she is quite optimistic that things will quietly fall back into place, and the league will align with the players’ union’s demands. An X handle with the username @correlation shared a screenshot of CC’s latest Instagram story, and it quietly captures her optimism and hope yet again.
“Caitlin on her story, “time to get back to a lot of this.” and she’s right!” the message read.

While Clark remains positive in her stance, the in-person negotiations in NYC on Monday weren’t as fruitful as expected. The league initially offered a salary cap of $5 million with a 70% revenue sharing from net revenue. But the union countered it while asking $10.5 million with 30% sharing from gross revenue.
The WNBPA remained rooted in its proposal at the Monday meeting, too, but the league didn’t decide on a new counterproposal. All in all, the headline was that the league is still working on drafting a counterproposal to the players’ union’s latest proposal, causing further delay amid this moratorium.

However, CC’s message comes as a strong statement. Clark subtly hinted that she is hopeful the WNBA will be in action as scheduled in 2026, too, with fans filling the stadiums and players earning their affection. And when one of the most influential players around the circuit voices her opinion, it does matter.
The post featuring Caitlin Clark’s message, shared on X, received an array of reactions from fans, with most sharing their own perspectives on the emotions behind Clark sharing it. Here are a few of those.

Fans Didn’t Hesitate to Pinpoint Caitlin Clark’s Role in the League’s Growth Amid CBA Standoff
A fan subtly credited Caitlin Clark’s message as a way to put pressure on the league amid the WNBA’s CBA negotiations. “Demon pushing the wave. I respect it ✊🏽,” the comment read.
Clark has never backed down from speaking out on behalf of WNBA players during these negotiations. Be it her NBA debut or any other global stage, CC has always stood up for the players’ demands. This is quite important for players like Clark and Sophie Cunningham, who have global impact and reach, as it attracts more masses towards this evolving issue regarding one of the most formidable basketball leagues in the world.

“Lol yes, not subtle at all from Caitlin in fact, in Caitlin terms this is blunt force trauma she making it clear the product makes the money & obviously her, so let’s get the product out there whilst the rest talk their BS & agendas, and I’m fed up to **** with it as i bet she is imo,” another commented. “Like I said. Feet to fire. Getting fans excited and applying pressure to get a deal done if they want that money, she brings ‘em again. Pretty simple,” chimed in another.
There’s absolutely no doubt about the financial benefits CC brings to the WNBA. Her debut season in 2024 saw viewership and merchandise sales for the league skyrocket. Moreover, according to the LA Times, Clark alone accounted for 26.5% of the league’s total financial activity in her rookie year.

With her, the league sells out tickets, earns profits, and guess what her salary is in her recent contract? $338,056 across four years, yes, that’s right. Thus, if anyone can present the strongest case of “pay us what you owe us” to the league, it’s none other than Clark, and these comments catch this sentiment perfectly.
“You heard her,” stated a fan. “Caitlin Clark wants to hoop…. SIGN THE DAMN DEAL!!!!” wrote another. While Clark continues to voice her opinion and apply pressure in her own way, a successful deal is still far away. The negotiations are still stalled on two crucial elements: the salary cap and the revenue-sharing percentage. And the league’s failure to establish a clear, fresh counterproposal has just led to even more uncertainty and delay.
This delay isn’t a positive sign for Clark and co. at all. With the league scheduled to start in a few months, efforts around the league are still on hold. Free agency endeavors and the WNBA draft are at a standstill for now. Thus, it’s essential for the league and the union to reach a common position before an all-important window for players and teams.

However, for now, Clark and co. will just have to wait for the league’s counterproposal. Till then, you can always chip in with your opinions over the WNBA CBA negotiations saga.
