The chants of “Lisa! Lisa!” echoing across Indiana aren’t exactly new; they’ve been simmering since last year. Clark’s 2024 Rookie campaign was the stuff of Fever fairytales. CC didn’t disappoint – well, if you set aside the playoff flop. But did anyone blame Caitlin? Of course not. Instead, they turned toward Christie Sides’ clipboard, and suddenly everyone was an expert on offensive spacing. While Sides was eventually let go, what fans got wasn’t Bluder – it was Stephanie White. Still, people kind of figured it was only a matter of time before White would start feeling the same heat.

Now, Clark’s comeback from her quad injury should have added new chapters to the fairytale. The Fever even won two straight, one of them against the mighty New York Liberty! But then, things went sideways real quick. GSV knocked them back to Earth, and the Aces showed up next with the same bad intentions.

Against Vegas, the Fever looked sharp, even holding a 6-point lead going into the third. Aliyah Boston was brilliant, dropping 26 points on an efficient 12-of-19 shooting night. She did everything she could to keep her team afloat. But once again, it wasn’t enough. For the second straight game, the Fever led through three quarters, only to crumble in the fourth. And for the second straight game, Caitlin Clark struggled. She finished the game with a 19-point, 10-assist for her 18th double-double, but the shooting woes? They continued. She went 1-10 from beyond the arc. Against the Valkyries, she went 0-7 from the 3-point line. So, fans now cannot help but ask, “Is Stephanie White really the coach for this team?”

Caitlin Clark fans want Stephanie White to be replaced

When a record doesn’t sit well with Fever fans, they start clamoring for Bluder. However, their disappointment seems to have reached another level this time with a 6-7. They are ready to settle with Sides also if White is shown the door. “IndianaFever either bring back Christy Sides or hire Lisa Bluder and Dump Stephanie white,” said a fan.

Christie Sides led the Fever last season, turning a 3-10 start into a solid 20-20 finish. She even secured a playoff spot. But despite that, she was let go. Her replacement? The very coach who knocked the fever out in the first round – Stephanie White.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Stephanie White the right fit for the Fever, or is it time for a coaching change?

Have an interesting take?

But, of course, the chants are always louder for Lisa Bluder. “Imo this is the coach the Indiana Fever need. Please bring in Lisa Bluder. We expected an up tempo high flying offense like Iowa had with Clark. Many of us r very unhappy. We expected the most fun team in the wnba not this old guard crap and I don’t think we have that 🔥🔥🚨🚨,” commented a fan

Fans clearly want a change in the coaching staff. But you might ask why all the commotion around Bluder? Well, she is the mastermind behind Clark’s Iowa takeover. There, Clark averaged 28.4 points, 8.2 assists, and 7.1 rebounds per game. Bluder herself has a shining resume. She wrapped up her career with 884 wins, making her Iowa’s all-time winningest coach with a 528-254 record since taking over in 2000. And she also made sure to walk away as the most victorious coach in Big Ten history, boasting a conference record of 262-145.

“Lisa Bluder Can Bring Out The Best In Caitlin!!” one fan explained. Yes, Clark thrived under her, finishing her college career as the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer with 3,951 points. She also hit a record 548 threes in Division I play. She rewrote college basketball history books like no other! Another fan joined in and made it clear it was Bluder or no one. “The Fever need to hire Lisa Bluder as head coach,” they said.

On paper, bringing in the coach who brought out the best in Caitlin Clark sounds like a no-brainer. One fan even said, “White has no idea how to coach this team around Caitlin Clark. Is she there to make everyone else look good? Call Lisa Bluder.” But, unfortunately, that’s not possible! The 64-year-old head coach officially retired last year. These days, she is often seen watching her beloved Iowa play or attending her son’s games. Well, there is always the prospect of her coming back from retirement, but why would she?

Now, the question is – Is Stephanie White a bad coach? Absolutely not! During her time with the Sun, she had a 55-25 regular season record. She also went 7-7 in the playoffs, making it to the semifinals twice. Oh, and let’s not forget. She was the WNBA Coach of the Year in 2023! So, she knows how to get the job done.

For sure, 6-7 isn’t the best of records. But it’s not the end of the world. Remember, Coach White herself is dealing with personal problems, which have led her to miss two games this month. Give her time – if there’s anyone who knows how to bring a championship back to Indiana, it’s the one who’s already done it.
