Angel Reese reunited with her former LSU championship teammate Last-Tear Poa on Saturday in Phoenix. Poa, an Australian national who played her first two years with Reese with the Tigers, shared a wholesome message after the Atlanta Dream star delivered the best game of her WNBA career in a win over the Phoenix Mercury and sealed their 2026 WNBA playoff stop.

In a video posted by Bleacher Report on Aug. 22, Reese was seen talking to Poa, who rocked a pink outfit as Pos made her way onto the court. The former teammates also posed for a selfie together as Poa clicked the snapshot on her phone before continuing their chat. However, the broadcast didn’t capture what the two former LSU basketball players actually talked about.
Angel Reese and Poa share a very emotional past and mutual respect as former teammates. In 2024, when Poa suffered a scary injury during the SEC conference semifinal game against Ole Miss, Reese was very supportive of her. After the SEC championship game, the WNBA star dedicated the win to her former teammate. “I LOVE YOU POA! THIS FOR YOU 13!” Reese wrote in her Instagram story.
Poa has previously credited Reese for being the “main reason why women’s basketball changed” in 2023. Reese’s ring and ‘you can’t see me’ gesture on Caitlin Clark kickstarted a rivalry that set the stage for one of the biggest rivalries in women’s basketball and sold out seats in arenas across.
The same rivalry got carried over in the WNBA, and it is having a similar impact.
“She brought intensity and stood on business. I loved playing with Angel — I wish I could again. She taught me a lot — on and off the court. Being the point guard, when I got the ball, she was running — she made things easy. And if we shot, she’d get the rebound. Her shoulders were heavy, but she wore that crown to the top.” Poa said in an exclusive interview with basketball.com.au on July 30, 2025.
Angel Reese continues to play the same brand of high-intensity basketball. Her competitive stamina hasn’t changed. On the night of their reunion, Reese recorded a career-high 31 points, 14 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 steals in the win over the Mercury. While the Mercury are already out of the race, Atlanta Dream booked their place in the playoffs after their third consecutive win since Reese missed a potential game-winner against the Indiana Fever a week ago.
Poa was one of the grittiest teammates that Angel Reese had played with. The Australian player was known for her defensive energy and drawing charges. She played only seven minutes in LSU’s 2023 March Madness Final game against Caitlin Clark’s Iowa, but drew two charges on Clark and went 2-for-2 from the 3-point line.
She declared for the 2026 draft, but went undrafted. She has since returned to Australia, playing for the Albury-Wodonga Bandits in NBL1 East. She has made an early impact, averaging 9.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 7 assists in her first two games for the Bandits, including a triple-double.
