As the Atlanta Dream looked to equalize the score with the Las Vegas Aces on Monday, entering with a 56.1% chance of winning, their star guard, Allisha Gray, took a nasty tumble in the second quarter. The cameras followed Gray as she exited the hardwood towards the locker room prior to the half concluding.

In the second quarter, Gray collided with Jackie Young while attempting to block a shot by the Aces star. But instead of shooting, Young pump-faked her shot, which prompted the Dream guard to leap into the air before flipping head over heels and landing awkwardly on her left hand, head, and neck. A video posted to X by Victory+ W caught the moment that Gray fell.
It was their second meeting of the season after the Dream suffered a heartbreaking 85-84 loss back in May. Allisha Gray and her teammates were looking for revenge as they entered the matchup with a 56.1% chance of winning. But not only did the game end in a 109-87 loss for Atlanta, but it also forced Gray to exit before the half ended.
After the fall, Allisha Gray remained on the floor for several moments in visible pain as her teammates surrounded her and the Dream medical staff rushed onto the court. The 31-year-old eventually got to her feet and walked to the locker room unassisted.
Gray is currently the Dream’s leading scorer with a 19.2-point average and has played a major role in the team’s 18 wins this season. Losing her for any length of time this close to the playoffs is the last thing Atlanta can afford. The Dream guard eventually returned to the floor in the third quarter. Yet it simply wasn’t her night.
At the 9:12 mark of the third quarter, Allisha Gray was struck in the face by a stray elbow from Young. And while many fans thought that was it for the 31-year-old, she remained in the game, remaining scoreless after that awkward fall.
Behind Young and A’ja Wilson, who combined for 51 points, the Aces recorded their first win since losing to Chicago on August 1. Young added 11 rebounds while Wilson contributed six, further stifling the Dream offense.
For the Dream, this loss brought an end to their five-game winning streak as Allisha Gray recorded one of her worst nights with seven points, one rebound and two assists in 30 minutes. Angel Reese, on the other hand, recorded 23 points and 16 rebounds. But that was just not enough to lead the Dream to a win.
There has been no official update from the Dream regarding the severity of her injury. However, with the playoffs fast approaching, Atlanta will be hoping the fall was nothing more than a scare and that their leading scorer won’t miss any time.
