Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX halftime show was widely anticipated to be a big political message. However, it turned out to be far more than that. The Puerto Rico star delivered a peak energy and visually stunning performance. Seconds before he closed his performance, the “Me Porto Bonito” singer spoke his first and only English words of the entire show: “God bless America.”

He then proceeded to name countries across Latin America one by one in Spanish – Mexico, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and many more. Moving through Central and South America, he eventually closed with “USA,” “Canada,” and, fittingly, “Puerto Rico” once again.

The special shoutout clearly struck a chord with Canadian WNBA star Aaliyah Edwards. The forward took to her social media to convey her excitement.

Born in Kingston, Ontario, Edwards grew up in Canada and started playing basketball in her home country. She attended Crestwood Preparatory College and led her school to three championships during her time. To pursue a career in the WNBA, Edwards moved to America and joined UConn for her college basketball.

The Sun star eventually rose among the top college athletes in her junior year, averaging 16.6 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. That helped her go sixth overall in the loaded 2024 draft class. Now with the Connecticut Sun, Edwards still proudly represents her country on the international stage. She has represented Canada multiple times, including at the 2024 Paris Olympics. As she continues to build her legacy, Edwards is opening doors for the next wave of talent coming out of Canada.

And while one WNBA star was showing love to Bad Bunny’s halftime show from afar, there was another, sitting in the stands, watching the Seahawks defeat the Patriots for the glory.

WNBA star Paige Bueckers attends Super Bowl LX

If anything, the WNBA fans have learnt about Paige Bueckers lately (apart from her elite scoring skills), it is her love for attending games.

From college football to highlighting the celebrity row with Angel Reese at Madison Square Garden, Bueckers’ favorite part of the offseason is sporting events.

So, obviously when the time came for the biggest sporting event in the country, we already expected her to squeeze herself among the thousands of fans to watch the Super Bowl. Despite her hectic schedule, Bueckers was present in Santa Clara, California.

Pop artist Kallie Rock gave the first glimpse of Bueckers. Buckers posed with Rock, Harper Murray, the Nebraska volleyball star, outside Levi’s Stadium. The Dallas star herself posted videos and pictures from her time at the Super Bowl. One of the pictures she posted on her Instagram Story featured “The Only Thing More Powerful Than Hate Is Love” banner at the top of the stadium.

Bueckers has also taken part in the Bay Area’s pre-Super Bowl festivities, participating in the Gatorade Hydration Games. She competed against a star-studded field that included Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson and Olympic champion Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone.

And, well, she made sure to have her moment. Showing off her touch and accuracy, Bueckers caught social media’s attention after perfectly tossing a football straight into a Gatorade water cooler.

All in all, despite her Dallas Cowboys at home, Bueckers was more than happy watch the Patriots and Seahawks compete for the crown.
