More than two years ago, Angel Reese took to X and declared what her loving and dedicated fanbase would now be known as. Since then, her fans have worn that moniker with pride. Now, fresh off winning a World Cup gold medal with Team USA, the Atlanta Dream forward is paying tribute to her fans with a heartwarming surprise.

Angel Reese, in partnership with Reebok, revealed a special colorway of her Angel Reese 1 designed with fans in mind. And poetically enough, these new shoes are called “REESE’S”, leaning into her fanbase as well as the brand, as Reese and Reebok have announced the colorway shortly after the REESE’S PIECES with Chocolate Cookie was released on July 17 of this year.

“Seeing the Reebok Angel Reese 1 come to life is such a full-circle moment for me. I love how the iconic Reese’s orange, yellow, and brown come to life on my signature shoe in a way that feels bold, playful, and true to my style, both on and off the court.” Reese said, as reported by USA Today’s Meghan L. Hall.

“Launching it alongside REESE’S PIECES with Chocolate Cookie makes it even more special, especially because my fans have always called themselves the REESE’S PIECES. I can’t wait for everyone to get their hands on it!” The 24-year-old added.

Reese’s latest shoe colorway comes in a brown, yellow, and orange palette with miniature pops of color on the outside of the shoe and also has a limited-edition orange shoe box, making it a true collector’s piece. This is part of Reebok’s co-branding with REESE’S that carries the candy’s theme.

The shoe is set to be released for sale on October 20, a month from now. And considering the Angel Reese 1’s sales trajectory since launch, this limited-edition colorway is likely to be sold out within minutes.

This is because exactly one year ago, three of Reese’s debut colorways sold out on the Reebok site in just a matter of moments. The web traffic nearly broke the Reebok website.

This further solidifies Angel Reese’s stardom and how marketable she is outside the WNBA bubble. In fact, Reese took it up a notch this season during the WNBA All-Star weekend. While the Dream forward spoke with reporters during her WNBA All-Star media availability, she spoke about her signature Barbie Doll.

“I really wanted to have a Barbie doll one day, and to have a Barbie, you got to be iconic. You have to do some real things,” Reese said in July.

Since her time in college with LSU, Reese has been nicknamed the Bayou Barbie. She even has a bright pink colorway in her signature shoe line.

“I knew it was going to take some time because there are so many great women that are Barbie dolls and they have their own doll, but I knew that’s what I wanted. And I spoke that into existence.”

Regardless, it seems like Reese is getting a knack for launching new items and building her brand right after she achieves milestones on the court. However, she won’t be the only one launching a shoe in October.

Her USA teammate and WNBA rival Caitlin Clark is also dropping her first signature shoe, the Nike Caitlin 1, on October 1 globally. In fact, just before Reese announced this new colorway, Clark dropped, and Nike posted about the Caitlin 1’s imminent launch.

Meanwhile, Reese made a statement in her first game back after the World Cup. The three-time WNBA All-Star dropped 30 points against the Connecticut Sun on Thursday.

The World Cup gold medalist grabbed her 10th rebound moments after scoring 30, officially making it a WNBA-record 30th double-double of the season. She finished a single point shy of her career high, playing just 25 minutes in the 103-59 blowout victory at Gateway Center Arena.

It has been an eventful season for Angel Reese, and it is about to become even more important as she will make her debut in the WNBA playoffs as the Dream’s anchorwoman. The Dream’s current record stands at 27-14, and they are one of the favorites to win the WNBA championship this season.
