Will Angel Reese be traded? That is one of the questions of the hour occupying the minds of WNBA fans. Reese has reportedly not been in the good graces of the Chicago Sky front office ever since she aired her frustration and said “if things don’t pan out, obviously I might have to move in a different direction and do what’s best for me”. Despite this, Sky GM Jeff Pagliocca shut down any trade rumors, stating, “Until I hear differently, that’s the direction we’re going to move, is that she’s on the roster.” Whatever might be going on, Reese has certainly brought the trade conversation back to the limelight through a recent post.

Angel Reese recently took to her official X account to share a post with her 708,900 followers. The video showcased a compilation of some of the player’s highlights from her second year in the WNBA, with a special focus on her rebounding. The clip ended with the words “2025 WNBA Rebounding Leader Angel Reese”. Reese added her own caption to the post, which read “YEAR 2. You taught me so much. You taught me so many lessons. You showed a TON of growth. You fought through SO much adversity. Yet you still PREVAILED, still showed up, and God has a plan for you. This is only the beginning. ♾”.

“This is only the beginning”. It could mean a lot of things. On one hand, Angel Reese may simply be signaling her intent to build on the success she’s stacked up over the past two years. On the other hand, with the recent turbulence surrounding her time with the Chicago Sky, the phrase might just be hinting at a fresh chapter, potentially even a new team. At least, that’s what fans think.

Angel Reese’s frustration reportedly came when the Chicago Sky ended any hope of reaching the postseason after setting a 9-30 win record. In the days following the remarks, she apologized for saying them. Unfortunately, the damage was done. In early September, the Chicago Sky hit Angel Reese with the news that she will not play in the first half of the Sept. 7 game vs. the Las Vegas Aces. For the team, the matter was handled internally, and they only wished to move forward from it as a team.

WNBA Fans Call For Angel Reese To Ask A Trade Following Sky’s Bad Run: “request dat trade”

One social media user wrote, “request dat trade twin…”, and highlighted a GIF of a person saying “Welcome to Atlanta”.

Is Angel Reese the missing piece for another team, or should she stick with the Sky?

The Chicago Sky roster undoubtedly faced some issues during the team’s recent season run. Reporter Ricky O’Donnell said that the team created faults when they “botched the 2025 draft in spectacular fashion”. 36-year-old Courtney VanderSloot was added to the roster, which didn’t work out well since the point guard ended up suffering a season-ending torn ACL in early June. This, combined with Angel Reese getting hurt just before the All-Star break, led to a 1-9 stretch. ‘Newsweek’ reporter Michael Gallagher also claimed that there wasn’t any chemistry or consistency with the Chicago Sky players.

One individual said, “Please stay with the team we love you, id understand if you left tho…”. Over the last few days, Angel Reese has already been linked to other WNBA franchises via rumors. Sporting News contributor David Suggs recently suggested the Dallas Wings as Reese’s next home, stating that “Dallas would have to part ways with some serious assets to bring in Reese, who has two years remaining under team control. The Wings would likely have to shell out draft capital to land Reese, including potential lottery picks in 2026 and 2027. But her skillset figures to pop alongside Bueckers, a similarly gifted two-way player who would ease the burden placed on Reese on both ends of the floor.”

One social media user hence wrote, “Paigel in Dallas is going to be so good 🥹”. As highlighted above, making an Angel Reese acquisition would cost the Dallas Wings a lot. However, it would pair Reese with the 1st pick of the 2025 WNBA Draft. They already hold mutual respect, which they built when both were part of the same team at the 2025 WNBA All-Star game. Reese even admitted that “It’s good to finally be able to play together instead of playing against each other.”

One individual wrote, “I be glad when you get traded. They definitely don’t deserve you, Angel”. The feeling that Angel Reese needs to try her luck elsewhere is resonating through to the rest of her fanbase, too. At Thursday’s Sky vs. Liberty game, a fan was seen wearing a “Free Angel” shirt. According to reports, Reese’s security team didn’t remove him. Instead, they escorted the fan to a courtside seat!

One social media user wrote, “You about to force a trade to the Storm???? Let’s goooooo!!!” As David Suggs said, “The Seattle Storm aren’t exactly the epitome of stability in the WNBA.” Despite this, the team is known for possessing talent like Gabby Williams, Nneka Ogwumike, Skylar Diggins, Ezi Magbegor, etc. After her recent memorable performance against the Las Vegas Aces, Dominique Malonga also deserves to be on the list.

Overall, the majority of reactions saw fans being on board if Angel Reese were to leave the Chicago Sky. With the player having plenty of time to decide in the off-season, it remains to be seen what decision she will choose in the end.
