It’s the battle of the bigs, A’ja Wilson vs. Angel Reese. The reigning MVP against the rookie who refuses to back down. The stage is all set for the Chicago Sky vs the Las Vegas Aces game. On one side, you have the Aces, who have practically forgotten how to lose, riding a dominant 10-game winning streak. The other side has the Chicago Sky, who are still searching for answers as wins continue to slip away.

In the last 10 games, A’ja Wilson has scored 270 points and grabbed 131 rebounds. These are numbers worthy of the reigning MVP, who is once again making a big case for what would be her 4th MVP award. On the other side, Angel Reese continues to dominate the paint, leading the league with 12.2 rebounds per game.

This will be the first meeting between these two teams this season, with two more games still to come. So buckle up — this is just the beginning of a three-game showdown featuring two of the best rebounders in the game going head-to-head. Here’s everything you need to know in this match preview.

Prediction: Can Angel Reese and co break the Aces streak?

It goes without saying that the Aces will head into Chicago as heavy favorites. The Sky have managed to win just 2 of their last 16 games. Yes, injuries to key players like Reese and Atkins have played a role, but with a 9-27 record, there’s little room for excuses for the coach, Tyler Marsh, who was aware of the lofty expectations the board had for him.

The Aces, on the other hand, struggled to find consistency early in the season but turned things around after the All-Star break. Since then, they’ve lost only 3 games and now sit third in the standings with a 24-14 record. So, it’s easy to see why they’re heading into Chicago as the clear favorites.

The numbers make the Aces’ case even stronger. In their last 10 games, the Sky have averaged 73 points, 34.5 rebounds, 20.9 assists, 4.6 steals, and 4.1 blocks per game while shooting 43.4% from the field. On defense, their opponents have averaged 83.2 points per game. The Aces, meanwhile, have averaged 88.6 points, 36.4 rebounds, 21.2 assists, 7.5 steals, and 4.3 blocks per game while shooting 46.4% from the field. Defensively, they’ve held their opponents to just 78.2 points per game.

Unsurprisingly, ESPN also has the Aces as favorites, giving them a 71.2% chance of winning. If we had to pick a team for this game, it would be the Aces, too. But can Angel Reese and the Sky pull off the impossible? They’ve already shown they can, with wins over the New York Liberty and Minnesota Lynx earlier this season. Who do you think will come out on top in this matchup? Let us know in the comments down below.
