Meet Ogwumike’s man: The ‘Nigerian Hurricane’

Ethasor Raphael Akpejiori is a heavyweight boxer. Nicknamed ‘Nigerian Hurricane’, Raphael has a professional record of 15 wins in his 16 fights. In addition to this, he won his 14 fights via KO/TKO. Furthermore, the 6’8” athlete has a Bachelor’s as well as a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Born on 10 October 1990 in Lagos, Nigeria, Akpejiori was promoted by CES Boxing and trained by former world champion Glen Johnson. He made his professional debut on September 14, 2018, scoring a first-round technical knockout (TKO) victory. The boxer has just one loss on his record.

His first fight of 2020 was a second-round TKO win against Mike Ford in January. In the backdrop of his fierce fights, he has been invited by the Nigerian Boxing Federation to compete for Nigeria at the Tokyo Olympics as a super-heavyweight.
