The 2025 WNBA season is entering its final stretch. With the second half of the season underway, teams are trying to consolidate their standings in the league table to secure a playoff spot and gain home-court advantage. While the teams are trying to find momentum and rack up wins, the front office is constantly exploring ways to improve their roster and give them the best chance to succeed.

With the Trade Deadline and Player Playoff eligibility from waivers deadline fast approaching, the Indiana Fever have recently made an addition to the roster. They have added Australian forward Chloe Bibby to the roster on a seven-day contract. Chloe recently played for the Golden State Valkyries in the WNBA. She had two stints with the Valkyries in the 2025 season. In her latest stint, she appeared in five games and averaged 6.4 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.

Another purpose of signing Chloe Bibby could be to get some more scoring options in Caitlin Clark’s absence. Caitlin Clark suffered a right groin injury in the Indiana Fever’s final game before the All-Star break. Though the team has confirmed that she has not suffered any more injuries, her return to play timeline is still up in the air. Therefore, adding another shooter can be a valuable addition until Caitlin Clark returns.

When asked about her signing with the Indiana Fever, Chloe Bibby analysed the reasons why this fit would be ideal for both teams. Talking to the reporters, Bibby said, “ Yeah, obviously, really physical team. Fast-paced, and I like that fast style, so I think that suits me a lot. Fast pace, shoot the three-ball, so that’s exactly what I do. So hopefully, I can find my strides here and get in some rhythm.”

She further explained the instructions coming from the Fever organization, saying, “Yeah, I think just as long as I bring some energy and fast-paced everything, and you know just try and find my shots within the offense, just getting to know the girls and the chemistry and stuff. It takes time, but try and build that quickly.” Chloe Bibby’s signing is a straight message to the league about the Indiana Fever trying to do everything to make sure they don’t fall off the cliff in Caitlin Clark’s absence. With the teams bunched up in the middle of the standings, there is no room for a slip-up.

From China to Indiana: A Whirlwind Couple of Days For Chloe Bibby

When Chloe Bibby was waived by the Golden State Valkyries, for the second time in the season, it seemed like it was curtains for her 2025 WNBA season. She had recently left San Francisco to leave for China when she got the news that the Indiana Fever were willing to sign her on a seven-day contract

From then onwards, things moved quickly. She booked a flight back to America and joined her new teammates as soon as possible. Having joined her teammates for Saturday’s practice session, Chloe spoke to the reporters afterwards. She expressed her excitement to join the Fever and to have another crack at playing in the WNBA. Her first stop in her Indiana Fever journey will come against their bitter rivals, the Chicago Sky, on July 27.

What’s your perspective on:

Is signing Chloe Bibby a smart move, or a desperate gamble by the Indiana Fever?

Have an interesting take?

For now, it may just be a seven-day contract. But, with her play and potential as a knockdown 3-point shooter, it would not come as a surprise if she can carve out a role for the rest of the season. As she explained, her style meshes perfectly with the Fever’s. She would have even more open shots once Caitlin Clark is back on the team.
