The Dallas Wings will be in Connecticut today as one of the teams will get their first win of the season. As Paige Bueckers and the Wings are looking to turn their season around after a poor start. They will look to capitalize on the matchup with the Sun’s offense looking disjointed early on in the season.

The 2025 WNBA season has been a baptism by fire for the Connecticut Sun. After a tough offseason that saw the departure of their entire starting five and head coach, the Sun have stumbled out of the gates to a challenging 0-4 start. They currently sit at the bottom of the league in several key offensive categories, including points per game (68.0), field goal percentage (37.6%), and three-point percentage (26.3%), indicating Coach Rachid Meziane  must change things fast.

Meziane will get his next chance to do that against the Dallas Wings, who are coming off a 4-game losing streak of their own. Barring their opening game of the season, The Wings have been tangled in close encounters dropping the games by single-digits only. The game against the Sun might give the Wings an opportunity to get their first win of the season. Something that is sure to boost rookie Paige Bueckers’ morale as well.

Who’s out? Injury news for Connecticut Sun vs Dallas Wings

Sun’s injury report is headlined by guard Lindsay Allen who was ruled out for the Connecticut Sun’s game against the Atlanta Dream after suffering a hamstring injury in the first quarter vs Minnesota. Jacy Sheldon, who had filled in for Allen against the Dream, is once again expected to start. Allen hasn’t injured her hamstring in the past, which means there isn’t much telling how the injury will develop. The only other notable injury Allen has suffered in the past couple of seasons is a left thumb fracture sustained during a game against the Indiana Fever on August 10, 2023.

Another unavailable player, while not injured, is guard Leila Lacan. Lacan’s contract has been temporarily suspended by the Sun and she won’t occupy a roster spot until she fulfills her overseas obligations, even though she has made the final roster. The French guard has stayed away from the Sun as she has been playing for Basket Landes in LFB, the French basketball league. Lacan was drafted No. 10 overall by Connecticut in the 2024 WNBA Draft before she opted to sit out the 2024 season to prepare for the Olympics. She is yet to make her WNBA debut.

The Wings have been fortunate with their injuries so far this season, owing to which the injury list remains empty. The only player to have sustained an  injury for the Wings this season was Tyasha Harris, who had been sidelined with an injury to her left knee during the preseason. Harris has since recovered and has participated in all the regular season games so far.

Given that both teams are entering the contest without a victory, the pressure is immense. However, for the Dallas Wings, facing another team that is also searching for answers could provide the ideal environment to finally break into the win column and build some much-needed momentum for the remainder of the season.

A win here could do wonders for the Wings’ fanbase, who’ve been buzzing with excitement since Bueckers’ draft night. Though the team’s move to a bigger arena has been pushed to 2027, a victory now could spark momentum and rally the community around this young, promising squad.

  • Spread: Wings (-4.5)
  • Over/under: 160.5
  • Favorite: Wings
  • Underdog: Sun

Despite both teams being 0-4, BetMGM’s odds signal that the Dallas Wings are considered the superior team in this matchup. The oddsmakers are likely valuing the high-octane offense featuring Arike Ogunbowale and rookie Paige Bueckers over the Sun’s home court advantage, especially given Connecticut’s recent offensive collapses.

A 4.5-point spread indicates the most likely scenario is a multi-possession victory for Dallas. This line suggests that the Wings’ offensive firepower is expected to overwhelm a Sun team that has struggled to score consistently. While Marina Mabrey leads the Sun with 17.5 points per game, she lacks a consistent secondary scorer to alleviate the pressure, making the Sun’s offense predictable and easier to defend. In a game of runs, the Wings have the firepower to pull away, while the Sun’s statistical profile shows a team prone to devastating scoring droughts that make it difficult to cover a spread.

The Sun have been the slightly better defensive team, holding a better defensive rating and allowing fewer points per game. Their possible path to victory might be slowing the game down and winning in a low-scoring, defensive battle. The sportsbook, however, anticipates the Dallas Wings will secure their first win of the season in convincing fashion. The odds are not just pointing to a Dallas victory, but a victory by a comfortable margin showing little faith in the Sun’s ability to either keep pace with the Wings’ scoring.

The game will be crucial as one of them will end the night at the bottom of the standings, so both sides are expected to bring their A-game to avoid the unceremonious tag.
