“I’m gonna do everything I can. I might trade the rest of my team for those two [Aliyah Boston & Kelsey Mitcheell].” That’s what Caitlin Clark said before the WNBA All-Star Draft and it actually happened. She got both. No trades needed. Just vibes, chemistry, and a draft built on familiarity and trust. As Clark had hinted, she wasn’t chasing stats, she was picking people she clicked with. But even with her dream duo locked in, there was one player she didn’t land… and she would’ve loved to.
To no one’s surprise, Clark stuck to her roots when she had the first pick. She went straight for her teamie Boston. And as expected, Collier matched the energy by locking in Breanna Stewart, her UConn buddy, as her first choice. The captains clearly knew what they were doing. But once the reserves rolled around, things got even more personal. Clark happily scooped up her backcourt partner Mitchell, while Collier made a bold (and slightly heartbreaking for Clark) move: drafting Courtney Williams.
Yes,the same Williams – the fan-favorite, the Lynx spark plug, and more recently, the co-creator of the viral Twitch channel “Studbudz.” She’s been one of the most entertaining players off the court all season, and her partnership with teammate Natisha Hiedeman has turned their Twitch channel into a must-watch.

So when Collier, who shares Unrivaled and Lynx ties with Williams, grabbed her in the reserves, Clark couldn’t hide her disappointment. “I’m sad, I wanted to be on her live stream. Maybe she’ll still let me on her live stream,” Clark said after the pick. But Courtney wasn’t about to let Clark miss out on the fun. The Studbudz came through with a response almost immediately. “Don’t worry girl, you’ll still be on there,” Williams promised with a smile.

Caitlin Clark after Napheesa Collier picks her Lynx teammate, Courtney Williams, as the first pick of the reserves:

And that’s just Courtney, she’s all about good vibes and keeping the community connected. This isn’t even the first time she’s shown love for Clark. After Clark returned from an injury and dropped a jaw-dropping 32-point, 8-rebound, 9-assist performance against the previously undefeated Liberty – including seven threes and a ridiculous 38-second three-point spree – Williams didn’t hesitate to give her props.
“That girl make that team different,” Williams said on her livestream. She even called out the doubters in her Twitch chat. “Everybody was in the chat hating… now look. What did I say?” she added, doubling down on her support for Clark. So the mutual respect between the two runs deep. They might be on opposite sides, with Williams joining Team Collier – alongside Allisha Gray, Skylar Diggins, and Angel Reese – and Clark building her squad around Boston, Kelsey Plum, and A’ja Wilson, but the vibes are clearly intact.
However, things clearly couldn’t be fitting as Williams will also be playing under her Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve thanks to the captains’ hilarious coach swap. Meanwhile, CC has her teammates-cum-friends, her home grown and a stacked roster. But, sadly, there might be a bad news for her.

A’ja Wilson injury scare could Impact Team Clark
The Las Vegas Aces fell 87-78 to the defending champion New York Liberty on Tuesday night, but the final score might be the least of their worries. The bigger concern was A’ja Wilson’s unexpected exit with a right wrist injury – just days before she’s set to play under Caitlin Clark’s squad in the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game.
Wilson struggled to find her rhythm early in the game. She scored just two points, grabbed four rebounds, and dished out two assists before going down in the second quarter. With 4:13 left in the half, Wilson attacked the paint for a contested layup and was fouled by Leonie Fiebich. But it was the awkward landing that made everyone hold their breath.

She stayed down on the floor for a few minutes while teammates rushed to her side. Though she eventually got up and walked to the bench to applause from the Barclays Center crowd, it was clear something wasn’t right. After hitting one of two free throws – her only point of the half – Wilson checked out with 2:22 remaining and headed to the locker room.
Shortly after, the Aces confirmed she would not return to the game. Courtside footage later showed her huddled with teammates, but the worry remained. Postgame, Aces head coach Becky Hammon provided a brief update: Wilson will undergo an MRI on her right wrist on Wednesday morning “Big picture, our season is bigger than one game. We want to make sure she’s good to go,” Hammon said, emphasizing a cautious approach moving forward. And while all eyes are on an update, there’s another question fans can’t ignore – what if she ends up missing the All-Star Game on July 19?
Losing Wilson – who anchors both ends of the court – would be a massive blow. Not just to Team Clark’s game plan, but to the entire vibe of the weekend. No official word has been released yet about Wilson’s All-Star status, but with the Aces playing again Thursday against the Mystics, all attention will be on whether Wilson suits up or remains on the sideline.
