Azzi Fudd has another reason to live up to her nickname, “The People’s Princess.” After receiving a warm welcome during her first season in Dallas, the 23-year-old has found a rather special way to give something back. And, as expected, she has done so with a message that perfectly reflects the nickname fans have given her.

As shared by Just Women’s Sports on X, the Dallas Wings guard recently unveiled a newly renovated, girls-only basketball court at Casa Linda Park in East Dallas. The custom-designed facility is heavily themed around flowers, with different floral designs covering the court’s pavement. The artwork symbolizes Fudd’s desire to “give the North Texas community its flowers” for welcoming her so warmly.
“Dallas has welcomed me with open arms since I stepped foot here the day after the draft in April,” Fudd said, speaking to The Dallas Morning News in an exclusive interview. “This is a small way that I can give flowers back to Dallas, the community, and just tell them thank you for everything they’ve done for me so far.”
Beyond the flowers, the court also features an inspiring message painted directly onto its sidelines: “Every Princess Needs a Court.” Fudd, who is affectionately nicknamed “The People’s Princess” by fans, chose the message to remind young girls that they belong in sports and deserve high-quality spaces dedicated to their growth.
“Community means everything to me,” Fudd said. “Hopefully, I’m here to stay. So I want to give back. I want to pour into this place and also show young girls what’s possible. Give them a place where they can feel comfortable and come here to play with their friends and get better and learn and grow as people, as players.”
This community project was created in partnership with Cash App and the nonprofit organization Project Blackboard as a way for Fudd to give back to the city following her stellar debut professional season. And this is not the only initiative to come out of her partnership with Cash App, which began earlier this year.
In June, Fudd also hosted a youth basketball clinic with local nonprofit Rae’s Hope, an organization dedicated to empowering at-risk and underserved girls between the ages of 5 and 18 in South Dallas and surrounding North Texas communities. As part of the partnership, Cash App donated $35,000 to support the organization’s mission and also surprised local athletes with an interactive basketball experience.
So far, Azzi Fudd has had quite an eventful offseason, taking on different off-court ventures while simultaneously balancing her injury rehabilitation. Her rookie season with the Dallas Wings, during which she averaged 13.1 points, was unfortunately cut short by a right knee injury.
She has, however, since undergone an arthroscopic knee procedure in late August 2026 to address persistent soreness. And the procedure reportedly carries a relatively short recovery timeline of four to six weeks.
Azzi Fudd Set to Make Return to Court in January With Project B
Azzi Fudd’s season was unfortunately cut short in August 2026, leaving the Dallas Wings to head into the postseason without her. The No. 1 overall draft pick and All-Rookie Team guard will, however, return to the court even before the WNBA resumes, as she is set to feature in the global startup Project B, which kicks off in January 2027 and runs through the winter offseason.
Project B is a newly established, Formula 1-style global professional basketball circuit that tours and hosts multi-city events across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Azzi Fudd first announced her intention to join the competition as its premier face and headlining star in June.
She shared the news on social media and detailed her decision in an exclusive interview published that same day. The announcement, however, came as a major surprise to the women’s basketball world, as Azzi Fudd had widely been expected to play in the domestic three-on-three league Unrivaled. Instead, she chose the globe-trotting circuit to fulfill her lifelong dream of playing professionally abroad.
The inaugural season will kick off on January 19, 2027, starting in Hangzhou, China, before moving to Valencia, Spain. While the league initially planned a December 2026 launch, Project B officially pushed its competitive schedule back to January 2027, making China its very first official competitive tour stop.
