“Alright, well, before we continue with anything else, Paige and I have something that we want to share with everyone… We are no longer together,” Fudd revealed during the most recent episode of her Fudd Around and Find Out podcast.
Paige Bueckers revealed the timeline of their breakup.
“For everybody wondering, even though we don’t have to share, it’s been a while. It’s been over a year. And to share that because everybody’s gonna be like, ‘Oh my gosh, they’re teammates, how is this gonna work?’ We were not together before she got drafted, so all of those narratives can go to bed. She was not drafted because she was my girlfriend. She was drafted because she deserved it, because she’s an amazing human, amazing basketball player. And we’re still friends, we’re still cool.”
Their announcement drew reactions from several players, including two Dallas Wings teammates.
Alysha Clark was one of them, adding a light touch to the announcement.
“I’m soooo glad y’all used Maddy’s idea! 😂🙌🏽,” she wrote, highlighting that Maddy Siegrist might have had a role to play in their breakup announcement.
Siegrist herself followed up with three heart-hands emojis.
Former WNBA player and current Wings assistant GM Jasmine Thomas also replied to the post, adding a heart emoji.
Ari Chambers, known for her coverage of women’s basketball, added three hearts of her own, joining the wave of positive reactions.
Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd first met at a Team USA Basketball tryout as teenagers in 2017, and then became closer over their four seasons at UConn. Bueckers then departed for the WNBA, where she was picked #1 overall by the Dallas Wings.
In July 2025, just months after Bueckers was drafted, she was interviewed by WAG Talk, where she confirmed that she and Fudd were in a relationship, referring to her former backcourt partner as her girlfriend.
The next year, in April of 2026, Fudd was picked #1 overall by the Wings. According to Paige Bueckers, sometime between those two moments, the pair broke up.
Despite the public attention on their personal lives, both players stressed that they remain close friends and will continue to be great teammates. Bueckers also addressed the negativity both players and their families received from speculation about their relationship.
Regardless of how things turn out, what is clear is that Azzi Fudd and Paige Bueckers have chosen to keep their relationship details private, and that their support for each other on and off the court will continue.
