The Paige Bueckers mania has officially taken over Texas. After dropping a jaw-dropping 44 points against the Los Angeles Sparks, a night for the history books, the Wings still came up short. A painful fact: every time Paige has scored 30 or more this rookie season, Dallas hasn’t been able to win. Now, the stage is set for their next challenge! A showdown with a team teetering on the edge of playoff elimination. Yes, it’s Dallas Wings vs Seattle Storm time!

Two teams with very different goals as the season nears its final stretch. The Wings are already out of playoff contention, so their focus shifts to finding the right system to be more successful next season. The Seattle Storm, on the other hand, are still fighting for a playoff spot, but winning just 2 of their last 5 games suggests trouble might be brewing.

This pregame preview has everything you need to know before the game kicks off.

Prediction: Can the Wings overpower the Storm?

The Seattle Storm is an interesting case. They were one of the favorites to finish in the top 4 before the All-Star break, but something has changed. In their last 9 games, they have only won 2, and even the addition of Brittney Sykes hasn’t been able to change the Storm’s fortunes yet.

According to insider Christian Braswell, there was a verbal altercation among Seattle teammates, which eventually led to Alysha Clark joining the Mystics. This suggests that there might be some underlying issues in the Storm locker room. That said, if we had to pick a winner for the game, the Storm would still get the nod–and the numbers back it up.

The Storm are putting up 82 points per game, while the Wings slightly edge them with 82.1. But the real difference comes on defense. The Storm gives up 80.3 points per game, whereas the Wings are leaking 87.2. On top of that, Dallas will be missing several key players, including Arike Ogunbowale, JJ Quinerly, Li Yueru, and Tyasha Harris.

So it’s pretty much a no-brainer why the Storm are favorites here. ESPN agrees, giving Seattle a 54.6% chance of winning. This is a must-win game for them, especially with the Sparks just one win away from overtaking them for the 8th and final playoff spot. But, as always in sports, stranger things happen, and you can never count out Paige Bueckers if she gets going!

Who are you backing in this one? Do you think the Storm’s slump will continue, or will they finally put together a string of wins after coming away with an important win against the Sky last game? Drop your thoughts in the comments below.
