Since returning from her left wrist injury, Angel Reese has been on a rollercoaster. She made her Unrivaled debut with a double-double, however, it could not translate into a win as Vinyl BC soared to a 79-73 victory. In the days since, Reese has been facing not just one, but two setbacks.

The Chicago Sky icon, who has been hyping up the Ravens all season long with her heartfelt cheers, was right there with the team in spirit as they took on the Bills. “GO FLOCK,” she shared right before the game. “Touchdownnnnn,” she added. But the Baltimore Ravens seemed to have failed to meet the expectations of Chi-Town Barbie.

Like many others, she was left heartbroken after Lamar Jackson and the team couldn’t secure a victory to keep their Super Bowl dreams alive. The Ravens suffered a tough 27-25 loss to the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Divisional Playoffs. The emotional toll of the game was clear, and as the final whistle blew, Reese didn’t hold back her disappointment.

Right after the game, she once again took to X and posted an upset emoji. However, this isn’t the only disappointing news that had come Reese’s way. Just a couple of hours ago, her personal and professional life took another hit. It all stemmed from the sudden shutdown of TikTok in the U.S. where the Chicago Sky star had accumulated 5.2 million followers.

Social media ban has Angel Reese on edge, and it isn’t just about her brand

Angel Reese has built a big part of her brand on social media, especially TikTok. It’s not just her loyal fanbase she lost, but also the chance for promotion, merchandise sales, and partnerships. In fact, TikTok has been her go-to platform for direct interaction with fans.

But the Chi-Town Barbie had a different concern. She tweeted, “I know one thing…EVERYTHING I ordered on TikTok shop better still be coming like I’m not even playing about that.” Her frustration is understandable considering she has admitted to her WNBA salary not being enough to cover her expenses. The possibility of losing out here alongside the promotions could paint a tough picture.

I don’t even think that (W) pays one of my bills. Literally, I’m trying to think of my rent for where I stay at [in Chicago]. I’m gonna do the math real quick.” she had said, showing just how important social media engagement and deals could be for her.

With Instagram no longer in the picture, TikTok was her main way to engage with fans, so for now, she’s left relying on Twitter and YouTube for her online presence.
