The Indiana Fever’s offensive dominance was on full display on Friday in a win over the Connecticut Sun behind an offensive masterclass from Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell. While both leading scorers tied for a game-high 34 points, Clark recorded yet another 30-point double-double. According to Indiana head coach Stephanie White, such stats have ceased making headlines for Clark because she makes it look easy.

“You watch her, and I think it’s easy to take for granted some of the things that she does. … I think that’s why players are great. They make the complex things look really simple. It’s really special … what she’s doing.” White told reporters after the win on Friday.
The Fever star recorded 34 points, 12 assists, 5 rebounds and 3 steals in just 34 minutes while notching 12-of-19 of her field goals. As stunning as these numbers look, Caitlin Clark has made it look normal. She became the only player in WNBA history to record 30+ points and 10+ assists in back-to-back games. In the previous game, she had 37 points and 10 assists in a win over the Chicago Sky.
Clark’s historic night in Indianapolis comes just a day after ESPN voting for the best players in the league. The 3x All-Star was voted the second-best player in the league behind A’ja Wilson, who is also the leading MVP candidate this season.
Some might question her place on the list. Caitlin Clark’s remarkable performance was perhaps an answer to her critics.
While it is still hard to put her at the top of the league, Clark’s latest unique double-double puts her in a class of her own. This was her sixth game in just three seasons with 30 or more points and 10 or more assists.
There are only five players in WNBA history with a game with such stats. The other players have just one such game each. Caitlin Clark has more such games than the rest on the list, combined.
The WNBA star also became the first player in league history to tally 800+ points and 300+ assists in a season. She is also the only player to record 300+ assists and 100+ 3-pointers in a season.
The Fever starters played an almost perfect game against the Sun. Mitchell shot 12-of-19 from the field and 4-of-9 from the 3-point line, with Aliyah Boston contributing 14 points. The average plus/minus of the Fever starting lineup was +22.8, with Mitchell (+14) the lowest among all five.
However, a season sweep (3-0) and a win over the second-worst team in the league shouldn’t be a big deal for the Fever. They have just four games remaining in the season with the toughest schedule in the WNBA. Three of the remaining four games for Indiana are against playoff teams. The last two games of the regular season are against the Minnesota Lynx.

The contenders for the playoffs are already decided. However, the top-three seed is still up for grabs, and the Fever continue to aim for that. After Friday’s win, the Fever (26-14) replaced the Atlanta Dream in the fourth position. Right now, the Golden State Valkyries and Las Vegas hold the second and third spots behind the Lynx at the top.
The No. 1 seed might be out of reach for Indiana, but if Caitlin Clark and company are able to secure the second or the third seed, they will most probably be matched up against teams like the Dallas Wings, New York, or the Washington Mystics. If so, their chances of making the second round will be higher than if they face Atlanta.
Clark’s numbers in the last two games are encouraging. If the Fever starters can sustain their rhythm, they can be as dangerous as any team in the league. The last four games of the season after the 2026 FIBA World Cup would be a big test for them and perhaps an early glimpse of their ceiling in the playoffs.
