Cameron Brink and her connection with the Curry family continue to enlighten everyone. Tonight, as the Los Angeles Sparks drafted the former Cardinal, her Godmother Sonya Curry made it a point to mark her attendance. After the announcement, Brink shared her appreciation for everyone in her life as she began a new chapter on her basketball journey.

Talking to Holly Rowe of ESPN, the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year gave a shout-out to Stephen Curry and her entire family. She said, “I think I just need to keep leaning on my people. My Godmother Sonya Curry is over there ‘Hi God-momma.'” She continued naming the other amazing people she has in her life who have helped her cruise through every situation. Brink also gave a shoutout to her mother, father, and brother, Cy Brink.

She said, “I have to shout out to my mother, father, and my brother Cy. It really takes a village. It’s not a one-person job.” In the pre and post-draft interview, the nation’s top center with a Lisa Leslie Award talked about her extended family. Brink’s mother Michelle called Steph Curry and he gave some words of advice to the 2nd overall pick. He also cracked some jokes in true Curry style to lighten up the mood.

On the other hand, Cameron Brink confessed Seth Curry outright disconnected her call. He called her back to congratulate his God-sister. Both Steph and Seth Curry have gone through everything that Cameron is doing now. Hence, she always looks up to them and asks for support when needed.

Looks like Brink has her priorities straightened out as she becomes a member of the Sparks tonight. However, advice is not the only thing that the two families give to each other.

Even when not present in person, the Brink-Curry relationship stands strong. Stephen Curry could not make it to the BMA for the 2024 WNBA draft tonight. But the physical boundaries did not keep the proud Godbrother from cheering for Brink on his Instagram story. Moreover, he even posted more stories, showing the endless support and love the Curry family brings to the Brinks. One of the stories he shared was a post by the WNBA and Cameron Brink. The WNBA commissioner, Cathy Engelbert, named Brink as the second overall pick.

Chosen by the Los Angeles Sparks, Cameron Brink will continue to improve her new team with her unforgiving defense and relentless offense. While she may have known that she would be amongst the top names, Cameron Brink could not help but let her emotions loose as she cried after her name was announced. Certainly, the anxiousness and pressure of the event can be a little overwhelming.
