ESPN hasn’t exactly been winning over the WNBA world when it comes to their pre-game analysis. Even players are taking a shot at it, as Sabou Sabally, after the Game 3 win against the Minnesota Lynx, openly said in a presser that “We started out the season, I think, ESPN, all of them, they ranked us really low.” Given this, the spotlight of netizens was on the network and its pre-game analysis. This led to another wrong prediction being caught.

Before Game 4 between the Las Vegas Aces and the Indiana Fever, Carolyn Peck, Andraya Carter, and former WNBA player Chiney Ogwumike hosted a segment of ‘WNBA Countdown’. During the same time, Peck coaxed her co-hosts to quickly decide if they chose the Aces or the Fever to win Game 4. Peck highlighted that the Indiana Fever had not lost consecutive games at home in the postseason. Additionally, one of Peck’s researchers found that when Stephanie White “wears her red leather jacket, I do believe we have some video of that, they are undefeated”. Despite that, Ogwumike went with the Aces!

Later, Andraya, who was also coaxed into making a decision, chose the Aces as well!

Well, if only the hosts had listened to what Peck said. After all, the Indiana Fever won by a 7-point margin, or by a score of 90-83. The Fever remained on top for the majority of the game. While the team never built a huge lead, the trio of Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell, and Odyssey Sims kept the momentum going. Home-court advantage prevailed in the end, and the Fever live to fight another day.

After a netizen uploaded a clip of the analysis by the ESPN crew, social media users didn’t waste any time in making their views known. One of them wrote “The terrible triplets. Fire them.”, while another wrote “Professional wrong people, but espn will still put them on air every week”. Some fans wanted to use the crew’s pre-game predictions to their advantage. One individual showed this by writing “Can we get them to jinx, I mean, pick the Aces in Game 5 too? (Of course we can)”. Before that, another individual had written “I guess if the Fever keep winning let them keep picking against…..however it would be nice to have a new crew.”

Hopefully, the ESPN crew learns its lesson this time. After all, this isn’t the first prediction of the Aces-Fever series that the hosts from the network have falsely predicted.

9 ESPN Staff Members Snub Indiana Fever Before Wrong Aces-Fever Game 1 Prediction

Before the 2025 WNBA postseason got underway, 9 members of ESPN’s staff were reportedly asked to predict their choice of teams that would prevail in the playoffs. When the discussion came to the Atlanta Dream vs Indiana Fever matchup series, all 9 of the staff members voted for Atlanta! 8 of them voted that Brittney Griner and co would sweep the Fever, while one of them voted that the series would go till Game 3.

Well, as we know, the series did go to Game 3. However, it was the Indiana Fever who emerged victorious. Game 2, which would have marked the Dream sweeping the Fever, was instead won by the latter by a score of 77-60, aka a 17-point margin! To rub salt on the wound, the official X account of the Indiana Fever highlighted the prediction in a tweet and wrote in the caption, “Now You Know.”

The story could have ended there. However, before Game 1 of the Aces-Fever series, Elle Duncan, Andraya Carter, and Chiney Ogwumike picked Aces to win the matchup. Elle highlighted her reasoning by stating, “They’re not gonna lose after [A’ja Wilson] just won MVP”. “Period” is what Chiney Ogwumike said to acknowledge this prediction. Andraya Carter added, “Yeah. There’s no way”. Well, the Indiana Fever’s 83-79 win says otherwise.
