Whenever a team wins a championship, the main share of applause and accolades is given to the star players. However, the role a head coach plays cannot be downplayed. Becky Hammon’s impact on the Las Vegas Aces is one such example. It wasn’t like the Aces were no good before her. They even made it to the Finals in 2020. But ever since Becky Hammon came, another level was unlocked. And now, with the team winning the 2025 championship, Hammon has created a record.

Since her arrival, the team has won three championships. On the way to the championship, there have been plenty of broken records. Sure, most from A’ja Wilson and, recently, Jackie Young. But after winning the title last night, Becky has entered her name into WNBA history as well. After last night’s win, Becky Hammon has become the WNBA coach with the highest winning percentage in WNBA Finals history. Right now, her win percentage is at 81.8% and her WNBA Finals record stands at 10-2. She has broken Cheryl Reeve’s record to reach these astonishing numbers.

The common theme among most of the reactions was love and respect for Becky Hammon and her achievements. Keeping up the same spirit, a fan reacted saying, “Love ❤️and respect this woman so much. She reminds me of my coaches. She’s one of the greatest ones. Popovich must be proud.” For the most part, everybody had expected that Becky Hammon’s path to becoming a head coach would begin in the NBA.

However, fate that some other plans, and Becky was hired as the Las Vegas Aces head coach after being an assistant coach under the legendary Greg Popovich. Since her arrival, she has led the Aces to back-to-back championships in 2022 and 2023. Results that would surely make Greg Popovich proud of his star pupil. And now, as they clinched Game 4 in a 97-86 win, she has become only the fourth coach to win 3 or more WNBA championships.

Another fan reacted, reminding everyone that just a few months ago, everybody was calling for a coaching change. They commented, “Beginning of the season people were like “they need to change coaches. They need to let Becky go. It’s a coaching issue” maaannnnnn!!!!! Worst of all, they were just humiliated by the Minnesota Lynx on national TV with a 53-point loss. But Aces’ majority owner, Mark Davis, remained patient. And just a few months later, they not only won the WNBA championship but also swept the Finals. This remarkable comeback is nothing short of a miracle.

Yet another fan praised the owner for her hiring by saying, “Best hire ever by Mark Davis!” With the kind of results and the attitude shift Becky Hammon had instilled in the Aces, it surely has been an inspired hiring. A’ja Wilson’s comments after Becky’s Game 3 record were a testament to how much the team cares about their head coach as well. She is properly involved with the team, as evidenced by her speech in the 2023 victory parade.

While everybody was in a celebratory mood, a fan pointed out a harsh reality as well.
