After prolonged association over the last few years, the Seattle Storm guard Flau’jae Johnson has joined the ‘ Unrivaled’ league. She has signed a multi-year deal with the league. She is expected to debut and play in the league’s third season.

“From signing one of the first NIL deals with Unrivaled to now joining the league as a player, it’s been incredible to see this journey come full circle. The level of competition, the attention the league generated, and the way it helped shine a spotlight on the game’s biggest stars showed what’s possible when athletes are given a platform built for them,” said Johnson as per Unrivaled.

“Having been part of the Unrivaled family through its NIL program, I’ve had a front-row seat to that growth, and it’s exciting to now officially join as a player. I’m excited to keep growing as a pro, compete against the best, and bring my game, my personality, and everything I represent to the league next season,” she added.

Johnson becomes another star to join the ‘Unrivaled’ from this year’s star-studded rookie class. After Olivia Miles, who is a frontline contender for ROTY, also announced the same.

Unrivaled is a league co-founded by WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier. It was designed as an alternative system to give the players an option to play domestically in the offseason to supplement their income.

Johnson had a storied college career playing with LSU. She finished with 141 games with them, amassing over 2000 career points. She was only their sixth player to achieve that milestone. She finished with 17 postseason games with them, reaching the final four once. She was instrumental as LSU won its first-ever NCAA championship in 2023. She was named Freshman of the Year, too.

Johnson has enjoyed a good start to the season. She has improved the Storm team by establishing herself as a reliable transitional player and scorer. The rookie is right now averaging 11.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 0.8 steals a game. She ranks second among all rookies this year in rebounds, highlighting her impact in creating secondary chances during transition.

In this short period, she has established herself as the third-highest scorer on the Storm team. And she is contributing significantly to defense, too. Her 1.0 blocks per game rank her second among rookies in that category. She became only the second rookie guard ever to record 15 blocks in the first 10 games in WNBA history.

All in all, she proves to be a solid addition to the Storm and the Unrivaled league.
