Caitlin Clark is back! After months on the sidelines, the Indiana Fever star will make her return in less than 24 hours when Team USA takes on Senegal in the FIBA World Cup 2026 qualifiers. But even before tip-off, fans can’t help but notice something strange in her demeanor.

After missing most of the 2025 WNBA season due to a groin injury, Clark is now sharing the floor once again with someone familiar: her Indiana head coach Stephanie White.
The two were spotted together in a series of snapshots shared on social media by the Fever franchise, showing White training Clark on the court.
“Coach and CC reunited ❤️🔥,” the team posted on X, capturing a moment fans immediately latched onto. It was more than a simple training session as these photos quickly went viral, with many users zooming in on Caitlin Clark’s expressions as she worked under White’s watchful eye.

Coach White completed her first season as the head coach of the Fever, where she guided her team to:
- A 24-20 record.
- A Commissioner’s Cup championship.
- And a playoff semifinal appearance.
However, now, during the WNBA offseason, the Indiana native is serving as an assistant coach for Team USA under Kara Lawson. And while the reunion itself was notable, it was Clark’s reaction in those images that quickly became the center of attention online.
Online buzz builds around Caitlin Clark, but her focus stays on basketball
While fans were busy analyzing the viral photos, Clark herself appeared focused on the bigger stage awaiting her with the United States women’s national basketball team. Speaking after practice ahead of the matchup against Senegal, the Fever guard opened up about how she’s approaching her long-awaited return.
“I don’t want to call it nerves, but excitement to play,” she said after Monday’s practice, as per ESPN. “This is a really cool opportunity. If you don’t feel that way, then you probably don’t care enough. Certainly, that’s how I feel about it for myself.”
Still, once the photos from Puerto Rico began circulating online, fans didn’t hold back with their speculations.

One sarcastically wrote, “You can see the joy and happiness in Caitlin’s eyes .” While another added, “And just like that, my girl cc looks sad.”
In every game where Team USA played against Senegal, they dominated.
Their last encounter was on February 11, 2024. That game ended in a decisive 101-39 victory during the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Belgium. With that history in mind, fans were curious to see not only Caitlin Clark’s performance but also how her reunion with White might influence her.
Another fan added, “All I know is we’ve seen smiles and a happy cc lately, which is not the case in this pic.” Whereas, another wrote, “CC looks very happy that her coach is there.😂🥶”
One more fan wrote, “You can tell CC is not happy being around White. White does nothing but hamper CC games.”
Regardless of all the online speculation, the focus remains on the court for now.
Caitlin Clark is all set to make her long-awaited return, and when that moment arrives, Stephanie White will be right there on the sidelines as part of the Team USA coaching staff.
Once the international assignment wraps up, the two will head back to Indiana, where their partnership with the Indiana Fever will again take center stage heading into the 2026 WNBA season.
