The Indiana Fever’s season finale against the top-seeded Minnesota Lynx saw not one, but two players leave the court due to injury, including one player who had to be carried off the hardwood. After Indiana won against the Lynx on Tuesday, this game was a complete reversal, as they suffered a major hit to their momentum in a 66-86 loss. As injury concerns mount for the Fever, things have taken a concerning turn for their defensive anchor, Aliyah Boston, as reported by WNBA journalist Tony East on X.

“No Aliyah Boston to start the second half for the Fever,” reported East.

The sequence happened with around 2:45 left in the second quarter. Boston collided with teammate Myisha Hines-Allen and went down immediately, clutching her leg in pain. She then headed to the locker room with a trainer’s help, with a towel covering her face.

While the Fever have not disclosed the severity of Boston’s injury or her playoff availability, they did provide an update regarding Boston’s injury.

“Injury Update: Aliyah Boston (right lower leg) will not return to tonight’s game,” read the Fever’s post on X.

Boston could only play for 13 minutes on the night, logging only four points and three rebounds, while shooting 2-of-5 from the field. She was replaced by Monique Billings in the lineup as play resumed in the third quarter.

In yet another game without Olivia Miles (out due to left calf strain), Indiana conceded 62 points in the first half. But their troubles refused to let up, as they were hit with yet another injury concern in the third quarter as guard Tyasha Harris went down with a left ankle injury.

The sequence happened with around 3:35 left in the third quarter. Harris was seen dribbling inside, and as she went for a layup, Minnesota’s Nia Brodie attempted to defend Harris’ shot. The two ended up colliding, and Harris landed awkwardly on her left ankle.

Concerns immediately mounted for the Fever guard as teammates surrounded her, waving the trainers over to come take a look. Harris was then carried out of the court with help from her teammates and trainers.

This is somewhat of a repeat of last season for Harris, when she suffered a season-ending patellar injury. After undergoing surgery in June 2025, she was not cleared to play till March 2026.

These injuries pose a far deeper problem for the Fever than just this loss. The Fever cannot afford to lose any of their active players as the playoffs are just around the corner. Losing Aliyah Boston would be disastrous to the frontcourt, as she has by far been their best frontcourt player and is averaging 16.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game this season. Boston is the anchor, providing stability in the paint for this high-scoring Fever team.

The Indiana Fever saw a bit of a scoring slump in their last regular-season game of 2026. Their two most prolific scorers, Kelsey Mitchell and Caitlin Clark, were unable to score more than 12 points combined, as Clark shot a season-low of only two points. She scored only one of the 12 shots she took, while Mitchell managed to make three of 12 shots from the field, including 2-of-6 three-pointers.

After the Washington Mystics won their game against the Chicago Sky, Indiana have dropped to the sixth seed. This means that they will now have to wait for the results of the Golden State Valkyries and the Las Vegas Aces games to see who their opponents will be in the first round of the playoffs.
