It was April 2025 when Sophie Cunningham went viral not for her basketball moves but for a partnership off the court. In one of her viral TikTok videos, the Fever guard was caught filming an Arby’s mukbang, where Cunningham chows down on two Arby’s sliders. “I haven’t had Arby’s in a really long time, I think for obvious reasons, but why did I ever go away from them? Not bad. Actually, not bad at all,” Cunningham said in the video.

While she herself did not expect the video to explode on the internet, the video ultimately ended up landing an official partnership with the fast-food brand, Arby’s. The Fever guard played the Sky game on Sunday with a sponsorship deal with Arby’s in her hand. She even arrived at the game wearing a crop top, reading “Hot Girls Eat Arby’s.” The caption of these photos posted on Arby’s Instagram account read, “Look who has the meats now.”

As of now, benefiting from the virality, Arby’s is also selling the viral crop-top for $20, and in just a day, most of the crop tops are sold out. Such is the popularity Cunningham is enjoying currently. Sophie, whose net worth is reported to be around $2 million, is also the first WNBA player to do a partnership with Arby’s, and with this feat, she has managed to step out of her teammate Caitlin Clark’s shadow which many consider an industry first, perhaps.

Be it in terms of revenues, popularity or audiences, the WNBA is achieving a new high with every next game. And one can not deny this might not have been possible without Clark. Chiney Ogwumike, the WNBA veteran, had already called her the league’s face, saying, “She [Caitlin Clark] is the most impactful player that I’ve seen hit the scene.”

Per Ryan Brewer, an associate professor of finance at Indiana University, during the 2024 season, Clark was responsible for a staggering 26.5% of economic growth. And if things do not go north, “I could easily see that eclipsing a billion dollars on the economic impact of Caitlin Clark this year,” Brewer said. Such is the impact Clark has on the league right now.

Reacting to Cunningham’s viral Insta post, fellow teammate Lexie Hull commented on the post, saying, “SHE HAS THE MEATS.” And Clark also liked the post.

Cunningham also has other major endorsements apart from the Arby’s. Ring, Quest Nutrition, Mad Hippie, Adidas, and SKIMS are some of the brands under the belt of the WNBA player. These endorsements boost her net worth towards the upper end of $1.5-2 million. She will next be appearing against her old team, the Phoenix Mercury, on Wednesday. Fans will have to wait until then to see what viral moment she creates next.
