Following Atlanta Dream’s 89-81 win over the Minnesota Lynx, Angel Reese had a special message for her teammate Rhyne Howard, as she wanted the struggling guard to keep shooting. What followed was a promise delivered live in action as FIBA’s official page couldn’t help but be in awe of Reese’s rebound magic.

Reese’s elite rebounding and the tale of the sassy Atlanta Dream star trademarking ‘Mebounds’ have made the rounds across the basketball world. On Sunday, the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup posted a slow-motion video of Reese going for the rebound against Tang and offered another trademark idea to the star.
“Angel R’ee’bounds TM. Trademark that too @Reese10Angel,” the six-word message read on X.
During the Minnesota Lynx game, Reese had delivered a strong message to encourage Howard.
“If you miss, baby, I’m gonna get the rebound, don’t worry,” was Reese’s message at halftime.
Fast forward to the fourth quarter of that 89-81 win: Howard scored 12 points in the quarter alone and led the Dream to a win over the best WNBA team. It was a similar sight during Team USA’s game against China.
In the video posted by FIBA, Howard attempted the 3-point shot, and Reese went against China’s PF Ziting Tang, grabbed the rebound, and finished with a putback.
Reese was called up to the national team, which gave Americans a rebounding edge over their opponents. But on Friday, she was faced with the formidable Chinese twin towers.
Coming off the bench, Reese faced the Chinese frontcourt duo of Zhang Ziyu and Han Xu, standing at 7’3” and around 6’9”, respectively. But the American star held her own against them despite standing at just 6’3”.
Outrebounding Tang was just one glimpse of how she performed. During one of the plays, Reese out-rebounded Xu and made a putback. It was later canceled since the shot was made after the buzzer.
FIBA later posted the same video on Instagram with a caption that read, “Queen of boards.” She finished the game with 5 points and a team-high 9 rebounds in a dominant 94-61 win.
A moment during last year’s game against the Las Vegas Aces proved to be a turning point for Reese. After the star (she then played for the Chicago Sky) caught a rebound of her own miss, one of the commentators called it “mebound,” a term that spread like wildfire among her haters on social media.
Reese went beyond the tradition of a savage response. She not only owned the term, but she also thanked her haters for giving her a business idea.
“Whoever came up with the mebounds thing, y’all ate because mebounds, rebounds, crebounds – anything that comes off that board, it’s mine,” Reese said in a social media post. “And a brand? That’s six figures right there. The trolling? I love when y’all do it because the ideas be good.”
Reese indeed trademarked “Mebounds.” In June last year, she released a short video on her X handle featuring the Mebounds merchandise. Months later, the WNBA star revealed on her “Unapologetically Angel” podcast that she made over six figures from the merchandise.
Reese didn’t stop there. She expanded “Mebounds” to her footwear partnership with Reebok. She released an all-pink “Mebounds” colorway of Angel Reese 1.
Now, Reese and Team USA will face Italy on the third day of the 2026 FIBA World Cup. In the opening game, Reese came off the bench when head coach Kara Lawson decided to go with her veterans in the starting lineup. Italy (defeated Czechia) is tied with the Americans in Group D, both winning their first games.
