Sitting on a 4-8 record, the Chicago Sky’s woes know no bounds. Thanks to an offensive drought, an identity crisis following Angel Reese’s departure, and a devastating ACL injury to Rickea Jackson, Kamilla Cardoso is carrying an unbearable burden as the rest of the depleted roster struggles to find a cohesive rhythm. The result? Seven of the last eight games dropped. Unsurprisingly, Skylar Diggins is pulling no punches, voicing a frustration that many others, including journalist Ros Gold-Onwude and Angel McCoughtry, share. In fact, the latter even decided to throw in a unique challenge at the 7x All-Star.

“I agree with that,” McCoughtry then said. “You should always hold teammates accountable. That’s what leaders do. Can’t worry about what people think of you. I’ve watched Sky since high school and her determination, her wit. She works very hard and she wants everybody else to to do that as well. As for the Sky, that body language is a losing mentality.”

‘‘More maturity and more leadership on and off the floor, from the players on the floor and the staff, as well,’’ Diggins reportedly said post-game when asked about the changes needed in the team. ‘‘More connectivity. If it was just versus one team, I’d understand that. Now it’s a trend of ours. It’s disappointing, it really is. It’s frustrating. Games aren’t going to slow down. The teams are going to keep getting better and better around us. So we’ve got to figure out how we’re going to turn this corner. This has been an extremely frustrating experience.’’

‘‘Effort all around needs to go up, and we have to get out of that loser mentality that we have. ‘Oh, here it goes again, here it comes again.’ We’re pros. We have to all step up when you’re pros, starting with myself.’’

Honestly, Diggins’ frustrations are not unfounded.
