Teamwork makes the dreamwork. And currently, this powerful ideology is reflected in the WNBA hooping star’s stand. Sue Bird is actively speaking for people’s welfare in the reignited Middle East crisis. Being an American-Israeli, her stance speaks of peace and harmony in this hour of need.

And that’s why the 4X WNBA champion threw her weight behind the White Office and called for the larger sensitivity in dealing the deadly crisis.

In her recent Instagram stories, Sue Bird shared a post, thanking Joe Biden, the President of the United States, on the release of 2 American and 2 Israeli civilians who were under the Hamas captivity.

Evidently, the post contained a thankful message to President Joe Biden stating, “Dear President Biden, We are heartened by Friday’s release of the two American hostages, Judith Raanan and her daughter Natalie Raanan and by today’s release of two Israelis, Nurit Cooper and Yocheved Lifshitz, whose husbands remain in captivity.”

In addition, it also stated, “Thank you for your unshakable moral conviction, leadership, and support for the Jewish people, who have been terrorized by Hamas since the group’s founding over 35 years ago, and for Palestinians, who have also been terrorized, oppressed, and victimized by Hamas for the last 17 years that the group has been governing Gaza.”

The message in the post is being revolved around the internet under the campaign #NoHostageLeftBehind.

Bird’s humanitarian contributions

Sue Bird’s career as an athlete is just a glimpse of her devoted personality. Evidently, Bird has won many humanitarian awards including the Moyer Foundation Award for helping children, and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) Connecticut’s Changemaker Award. Moreover, Bird is a keen activist for equality, health and wellness, Black Lives, and bringing opportunities to girls and marginalized people. As a professional athlete and champion, she has used her platform to uplift the voices of those affected by these issues.

Further, she frequently advocates on the injustices within the basketball community and beyond. Interestingly, Bird dedicated the 2020 WNBA season to Breonna Taylor. In unison with this, her social media is always populated with graphics and links that spread awareness on these, and several other issues, along with requesting people’s thoughts on the matter.
