DiJonai Carrington is not entirely satisfied with the broadcasting of the ongoing WNBA Finals. The Chicago Sky star has taken to social media to air her frustrations about one particular camera angle that NBC Sports has been using during the championship series between the Atlanta Dream and the Golden State Valkyries. And judging by her reaction, it is a viewing experience she would rather do without.

“They gotta stop showin that overhead angle 😩😩😩 ts gives me a headache & I be lost,” Carrington wrote on Threads.
The camera angle DiJonai Carrington is calling out is a bird’s-eye overhead view that NBC Sports implemented during the 2026 WNBA Finals broadcast. The camera is high above the center of the arena, looking straight down onto the floor. It provides a full, flat, vertical, blueprint-style view of the court, allowing viewers to see the positioning of players from directly above.
While this view might seem like an effective way to offer viewers a unique tactical perspective, making it easier to see how offensive plays develop, how defensive zones shift, and how spacing opens up, the direct-from-above perspective was simply disorienting for Carrington. Rather than making the action easier to follow, the camera angle left the Chicago Sky guard-forward feeling lost.
And DiJonai Carrington is not alone in finding the view difficult to follow. While she is the most high-profile player to speak out so far, WNBA fans and regular basketball viewers have also heavily criticized the camera angle across social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Threads. And yes, switching to this angle during fast-paced, live action can flatten the depth perception that viewers rely on to understand what is happening on the court.
The sudden shift in perspective can make it more difficult to judge the height of a shot, a player’s verticality, or the exact positioning of players near the rim. So while the angle might be useful for tactical analysis, its implementation during live play can leave some viewers struggling to keep up with the action.
As it appears, DiJonai Carrington is spending at least some of her offseason following the ongoing Finals series between the Atlanta Dream and the Golden State Valkyries. Her own team, the Chicago Sky, failed to make the playoffs, finishing 11th in the standings with a 16-28 record.
Unfortunately, Carrington did not have much opportunity to influence the Sky’s campaign herself. She was injured for much of the season and appeared in just 11 games for Chicago.
That limited availability has become one of the key factors casting uncertainty over her future with the franchise, particularly following the expiration of her one-year, $650,000 contract from the 2026 season. However, she has indicated that she is not ruling out the possibility of continuing with the Sky if the franchise decides to retain her.
DiJonai Carrington Remains Open to Returning to Chicago Sky
While the possibility of DiJonai Carrington joining another franchise remains very real, the guard is still open to staying with the Chicago Sky. She enjoyed her experience with the organization and would not rule out a return, although several factors will influence what happens next.
“Moving forward, there’s a lot of things to look at: look at who’s on the roster, look at health, different things like that. But I enjoyed my time here, and I would never say no. But you never know. I’m on a one-year,” she said.
For Carrington, the injuries that disrupted her season have made it difficult to draw any firm conclusions about her time in Chicago. It was a campaign in which she never really had the opportunity to find a consistent rhythm. So regardless of how the season unfolded, it is difficult for her to properly assess her performance when she spent so little time on the court.
“I honestly don’t have many thoughts,” Carrington said. “I played a handful of games, and even those games were more just each game was just trying to get the dust off a little bit more. So I don’t know how to gauge this past season.”
The Chicago Sky, in the same vein, will likely face a difficult decision over whether to bring DiJonai Carrington back or explore other options in the offseason. They brought her in to strengthen the team’s backcourt and provide defensive versatility, and her abilities make her a potentially valuable piece of the roster. However, her injury-related absences meant she could not consistently fulfil that role throughout the season.
Having played just 11 games, the Sky have limited evidence of what a full season with her in the lineup could look like. Her restricted availability will inevitably factor into the franchise’s evaluation, particularly when considering the need for a healthier and more consistent roster. At the same time, the decision is not necessarily straightforward, as her potential contribution when fully fit could still make her worth retaining.
