On September 29, 2025 Doja Cat announcened she’ll make a stop at Chase Center on Monday, October 19, 2026. Now, a year later, the Golden State Valkyries could be on a collision course with that date if the Valkryies make it to their first-ever WNBA Finals. However, as per WNBA reporter Collain Salao, the WNBA is not who will be budging.

“Update: The Valkyries tell @FOS that the team will host all WNBA Finals home games at Chase Center. The Doja Cat concert will be moved to a contingency date,” Front Office Sports reporter Collin Salao posted on October 6.
The WNBA reporter posted it as a follow-up to the Valkyries’ initial statement.
“As is standard practice for major venue events, we always have a comprehensive contingency plan, including backup dates, in place. No changes have been made to the schedule at this time. Any official updates or announcements will be directly shared with ticket holders as more information becomes available.”
While the latest update about the Valkyries keeping their schedule intact gives some clarity to the concert ticket holders, neither the team nor Doja Cat’s managers have announced which exact date the concert will be moved to if the expansion franchise does make it to the 2026 WNBA.
This wouldn’t have become an issue even if the Valkyries made it to the Finals, had they not finished in second place, and had the New York Liberty not swept the No. 1 seed Minnesota Lynx in the first round.
With the Liberty becoming the first eighth seed in WNBA history to sweep No. 1 Minnesota in the very first round, Golden State is the highest remaining seed in the playoffs, and that means they would retain home-court advantage if they progress to the Finals.
So Salao noted in a follow-up post that the Doja Cat concert dates won’t be moved to a contingency date unless the Valkyries make it to the Finals.
However, this is not the first time the Valkyries have had to face this situation.
In 2025, much to their fans’ disappointment, the expansion franchise had to play their first-ever WNBA playoff game at the SAP Center in San Jose instead of Ballhalla, because the Chase Center was hosting the men’s tennis tournament, the Laver Cup, on those same dates.
“We said that would never happen (again) and we meant it,” Golden State Valkyries owner Joe Lacob told the San Fransico Chronicle. “An arena like this is booked a lot of days during the year, but if we know it’s during a playoff window we’re obviously going to have contingency plans.
The Atlanta Dream, on the other hand, will face an even more complex situation than the Valkyries. If the Dream do manage to beat the Liberty in the semis, then they’ll face similar scheduling problems for all three of their home games against whoever wins the Valkyries vs. Aces semifinal series.
The Dream have planned to host home games at State Farm if they make it to the Finals. However, State Farm currently has a Sombr concert lined up for October 22, which will clash with Game 3.
And unlike the Valkyries it’s not just the concert schecduling clash. While Atlanta have used State Farm for most of their postseason games, it’s the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks home-court. They are scheduled to play on October 24 and 29, creating roadblocks for Games 4 and 6 of the seven-game series. However, the Dream are trying to figure things out according to Salao.
“We’re finalizing the details around our home venue and, if we advance, will share that information ASAP,” a spokesperson told Salao.
Interestingly, the situation that the Valkyries and their possible Finals adversary, the Dream, find themselves in is nothing new in the NBA. Over the years, the Jonas Brothers concert dates have clashed with WNBA teams on multiple occasions.
In 2025, the Phoenix Mercury forced the Jonas Brothers to move their concert date in order to host Game 4 at PHX Arena. Unfortunately, like the Valkyries’ first-ever playoff game, WNBA teams haven’t always gotten a favorable result in these scheduling clashes.
This year, during their Round One clash, the Washington Mystics vs. Atlanta Dream Game 4 had to be moved to the smaller CareFirst Entertainment & Sports Arena instead of the Capital One Arena due to a Jonas Brothers concert.
Now with the contingency in place, the question is: Will the Golden State Valkyries win two more games and make it to the WNBA Finals?
