The Dallas Wings, officially out of playoff contention, have a chance to rain on Golden State’s parade. While Chris Koclanes’ team is focused on development, rhythm, and finishing the season strong, the Valks are fighting for their postseason lives–clinging to the eighth spot. On paper, it seems like the Golden State Valkyries’ game to lose; however, it’s not that simple. Both teams are missing key pieces, and even though the Valks have a better record, the Wings have an X-Factor in their rookie players.

Golden State Valkyries vs Dallas Wings prediction: Can the Wings stop the Valks’ late-season playoff push?

It’s time to face the music for Golden State. They’re the only team in this matchup with something to lose. After all, it can’t possibly get worse for Chris Koclanes, Paige Bueckers, and the rest of the Dallas Wings team. They’re already 9-28, and have no chance of making the postseason. So the only thing left for them is to play good basketball and to prove to the world that the rebuild isn’t too far off from being complete.

However, every game is life-or-death for the Valkyries. Janelle Salaun and her squad are trying to do the impossible by qualifying for the playoffs in the team’s very first year. They’re currently grasping onto the eighth seed by a thread, but Los Angeles is on their tail. So, Natalie Nakase’s team needs to win every game they can if they want to try and reach the promised land. But things aren’t looking too good for the Bay Area right now.

According to ESPN’s matchup predictor, the Dallas Wings have a 62% chance of winning against the Golden State Valkyries today. The Wings have homecourt advantage, and both teams have been crippled with injuries. So, it can truly go either way tonight. If we take a look at the stats, they tell an interesting story. Golden State averages about 78 points per game in their debut season, while the Wings average about 81.5. However, the Valks have a clear defensive advantage, as they allow almost 10 fewer points per game than the Dallas Wings. (77.5 GSV, 87.4 Dallas Wings)

It will be interesting to see who walks away with the W today. Both teams are coming off major losing streaks, and are currently 1-1 in previous matchups. Paige Bueckers and Janelle Salaun are expected to play major roles in this game. Will the Valkyries manage to secure another win in their journey towards the playoffs? Or will Dallas spoil their fun? Only time will tell.
