The New York Knicks had a terrific 119–81 win against Boston Celtics on May 17, 2025. The team defeated Celtics to progress to Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since the year 2000. Amidst the historic celebrations, the team decided to dismiss their head coach, Tom Thibodeau and are struggling to find an apt candidate for the locker room. While Brondello was in praise of the men’s historic performance, she also shared a light-hearted moment during an interview.

Sandy Brondello finally broke her silence 25 days after the Knicks’ record-breaking performance. Seasoned sports journalist based in the New York City, Geoff Magliocchetti, broke the news of Brondello’s latest comment on X. He posted, “Sandy Brondello, with a laugh, confirms that the Knicks have not contacted her about their head coaching vacancy.”

According to the social media post, the Liberty HC sarcastically commented that the franchise failed to contact her for the coaching position. The men’s basketball team have contacted head coaches Jason Kidd, Ime Udoka, Chris Finch, Quin Snyder, and Billy Donovan. But in vain. They have been turned down by all the teams so far.

Hinting at this scenario where the Knicks are frantically in search of a head coach, Sandy Brondello added a light-hearted humour to the situation. While the statement is said in amusement, it signifies a strong sense of commitment for the franchise as well as for the New York basketball community. And as Liberty cruises through the season, one thing is certain. The roster is safe in Sandy Brondello’s hands.

Breanna Stewart aspires for more victories this season

“We’re hungry for more and taking it one game at a time.” New York Liberty’s athlete Breanna Stewart confessed the team’s aspirations despite clinching a massive 9-0 wins so far. It has hardly been a month since the season began and the Liberty has already secured their place in the Eastern Conference division. What’s more? They now rank no.1 in the league’s regular season games too!

“We know that we are 9-0, but really just focus on the game at hand and wanting to be great every single night,” Breanna Stewart shared the team’s aspirations and shared the view of how the locker room has been focussed on the one-game-at-a-time approach. The forward athlete had averaged 19 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game so far.

Despite leading the rankings, the Liberty has not been celebrating each win. Instead they have been focussed on the upcoming games. The roster, led by HC Sandy Brondello, has one of the most disciplined systems. Thanks to veterans like Sabrina Ionescu, Breanna Stewart, Jonquel Jones, and Natasha Cloud, who have geared up the system and kept them up and running.

Now as the team prepares for another showdown against Indiana Fever, will the Liberty repeat the same gameplay and snatch a victory from under the belt?
