Like I appreciate it, but just trying to get them to be quiet,” said Caitlin Clark. During Saturday’s game against the New York Liberty, Fever rookie Caitlin Clark accomplished a historic feat, becoming the first WNBA rookie to record a triple-double during a showdown. This drove the audience crazy, filling the arena with loud cheers. But Clark shushed them for one reason.

I think Aliyah was shooting a free throw,” she revealed after the matchup. It was in the fourth quarter at the 7:07 mark when Clark pulled down her 10th rebound, and the match was still on. As she felt Aliyah Boston would not be able to concentrate on her shot, she silenced her supporters. Since Clark’s arrival on the team, she had been targeted the most.

One of the major reasons behind it is her fandom, which changed dynamics for the WNBA. Until now, the WNBA has recorded 94% occupancy of arenas and sold-out matchups. Even the Fever has witnessed sold-out matches one after another despite not putting up best performances. Quite evidently, it’s love for Clark that attracts the audience to WNBA arenas, even after paying a hefty amount to catch a glimpse of her.

But her followers have certainly snatched the limelight from other WNBA players. “I don’t want it to take away from any of that and just be the focal point of All-Star weekend because that’s not fair to them. And, obviously, this is something that’s really hard to accomplish,” Clark told Fox News after getting her name on the All-Star list. Coming back to Boston, who was about to attempt her free throw, it seemed Clark did not want any distraction for her. But there’s another motive behind Clark’s move.

Fever on the path to redemption

The last matchup against the New York Liberty was quite important for Clark and the Fever. Since they stood with losses in the last three matchups, it was a moment for redemption. Despite accomplishing a record, Clark focused more on her original motive. In the 38 minutes of gameplay, Clark paired 19 points and 12 rebounds.

In addition to this, she even stunned viewers with her impressive logo three-point shots. While she hit 3-12, the iconic shot came up as a competition with Sabrina Ionescu. As Clark nailed a shot from the logo, Ionescu, nearly at the same distance, pulled another. It was back-to-back three points for their respective teams.

Finally, after taking the WNBA by storm, Clark concluded the matchup with 13 assists. And all this worked as the Fever emerged victorious against the New York Liberty, recording an 83-78 win. Undoubtedly, Clark is well prepared for the upcoming All-Star vs. Team USA showdown. But now the question is: will she be able to record a win? Stay tuned to know!
