The Olympic break has been quite something for the Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark. For the first overall pick herself, it has been a whirlwind of storms all around for almost a year now. In fact, this was her first-ever break since last September when she began to play for her final dance in Iowa. Something that A’ja Wilson did not get after she left Gamecocks. The rookie, however, for one, does not mind playing. Now that she has had a good rest, she is all ready to move ahead into the second half of the season. But what are her thoughts moving ahead?
The Gainbridge Fieldhouse will be hosting Phoenix for the last time this season. So far, Indiana has a two-win upper hand over the Mercury, and winning tonight’s game will bring the season’s series to Indy. And Caitlin Clark is all-prepared for it. In her pregame presser, she told the reporters, “I definitely feel more fresh and prepared for whatever it is. But you know, still, understand this league is very difficult and kinds get back into the routine of things.”
However, as a point guard who excelled in the last few games of the team, she also had a few thoughts about how the crew looked right before the break. She said, “I felt like we were playing good basketball right before the break. I felt like I was starting to get in a groove. So, it was kind of a weird thing of like I wanted to keep playing. I felt like we were finding our flow together and then you go on a month-long break and it’s like agh, you know, we didn’t play for a month. So, there’s like a balance of it.”

Caitlin Clark said she’s more refreshed after these 3 weeks off, compared to the 3 weeks before the season.
“I felt like I was starting to get in a groove… I wanted to keep playing… then you go on a month-long break and it’s like, agh. So there’s definitely a balance.”

Despite having an upper hand over Phoenix, Caitlin Clark still understands that winning does not come easy. At least not when you are in the WNBA.
Caitlin Clark remains hopeful but with respect for the league
Indiana Fever ended their run before the break at 11-15 record and winning 3 of their last 5 games. In fact, they won over three powerhouses, including the New York Liberty, the Minnesota Lynx, and the Mercury. While that should have been quite a confidence booster for the squad, Caitlin Clark chooses to be on the humble side.
In her pregame presser, she said, “I feel like we’ve been inching to get back, especially over the course of the last week. We’ve been ready for it. Now, you actually got to come out and show the work you’ve put in. Some games are gonna be great, some aren’t gonna be great, that’s just how the league works. We’ll just take it one game at a time.”
