The Las Vegas Aces power forward Candace Parker has coherent skills when it comes to dunking. One such dunk even stunned a future NBA star. But the three-time WNBA champion who has given many memorable performances throughout her career is now clearing some smokescreen around the stunning show. While her hooping in the McDonald’s High School All-American Dunk Contest amazed everyone, her reflections now give many a reality check about the momentous moment.

It was on March 29, 2004, when 17-year-old Parker became the first woman ever to win the All-American Dunk Contest. She had entered the contest as a senior in high school and faced a number of future NBA players as her competition. She showed her immaculate talent and beat iconic figures like JR Smith in the contest. But years later, she’s getting mindful of the fact how she pulled off one of the spectacular shots of her decorated career.

Candace Parker recently opened up about the famous night and shared her views on getting the better of JR Smith. She said, “I’m not a fool. JR Smith could kill me in any dunk contest. But, he missed his dunks and I was making mine.”
