Caitlin Clark showed firsthand why she was drafted first overall by the Indiana Fever. The 6 ft guard gave a highlight-reel moment when she opened her WNBA account with a 28-foot-three-point-jumper in the first minute of the game. However, despite her inspiring 21 points, the Fever couldn’t cap off the evening with a win. Nonetheless, the 22-year-old decided not to let this setback affect her in any manner as she reflected on it in the post-game media address.

Being the top scorer in this pre-season road encounter, the NCAA Division I all-time leading scorer sure had the spotlight on her. While addressing the various queries, Caitlin Clark commended her team’s efforts and also pointed out the positives they can take from the game. Clark followed this up with a positive attitude about the defeat. She said, “I think at the same time, it’s a pre-season game. So, don’t get too disappointed by it. Just go back, watch the film, learn from it, and get ready for our next one.”

She further talked about the nature of the game and expressed how it was an ideal start to this year’s tournament. Clark added, “You couldn’t ask for a better game, really, for women’s basketball to kick off this year. A tremendous game coming down to the wire, both teams competing. That’s going to be the story of the entire year.”

For a comprehensive portion of the game, the Fever were in the lead. Their pace also was relatively good and their coordination could easily be seen by the spectators present there. Moreover, they were the better team on the night in terms of shooting as they were 2.2% ahead of the Wings in field goals and 5% better accuracy from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, the No.22 was also pleased with her individual performance.
