“LFG @IndianaFever (Let’s F—– Go),” wrote Tyrese Haliburton as the Fever clinched their first-ever Commissioner’s Cup title, without their superstar Caitlin Clark, who was then sidelined with a left groin injury. Well, that post wasn’t just another tweet; it meant the world coming from one of the team’s most loyal supporters. After all, Haliburton isn’t just a courtside regular; he’s a close friend of Clark’s, even part of a personal group chat with her and her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, where they talk daily. And while Haliburton showing up to support the Fever has become the norm, what happens when he can’t make it?
Unfortunately, that became the case recently when the Indiana Pacers star received devastating news that he wouldn’t be returning to the court for the upcoming NBA season after suffering a torn right Achilles tendon during Game 7 of the NBA Finals. So, he underwent surgery on June 23, and while the procedure was successful, recovery will take time. “He will be back better than ever… He will not play next year, though. We would not jeopardize that now. Don’t get any hopes up that he will play,” shared Pacers president Kevin Pritchard.
But just because Haliburton couldn’t physically be there didn’t mean he wouldn’t show love. So, in true Hali fashion, he bought and gifted tickets to Fever fans for the game against the Atlanta Dream, a gesture that instantly went viral. Fans, overwhelmed with gratitude, flooded social media with thanks. And honestly, he deserved every bit of that praise, not just for the tickets, but for giving fans the chance to witness Indiana’s 99–82 domination over the Dream.

Why not? It was a total team win for the Fever as Sophie Cunningham, now known as CC’s guard, notched her second double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. She was lights out, shooting 4-of-5 from deep, 5-of-9 from the field, and a perfect 2-of-2 from the free-throw line, all in just 30 minutes. But, she wasn’t really alone as Kelsey Mitchell dropped 25 points in 25 minutes, and Aliyah Boston contributed 19 points with six rebounds. Clark, still finding her rhythm after returning from injury, had a modest but solid outing with 12 points and 9 assists. And with that win, the Fever moved back to .500 on the season, sitting at 10–10 and tied with the Mystics for seventh in the standings. So, were those Haliburton-bought tickets worth it? Absolutely.

Fans flood the comment section as they can’t thank Hali Burton enough!
As fans began posting pictures and clips of their courtside view of Caitlin Clark and co., made possible by none other than Tyrese, the Indiana Fever community couldn’t help but give flowers to the player who truly deserved it. And no, this time it wasn’t CC, it was the Indiana Pacers’ own star, Haliburton. “That’s so amazing, and I’m so freaking jealous!!!!!” penned one user.
Jealous? Of course – that’s understandable. But this wasn’t the first time Haliburton had gifted fans tickets. Rewind to just before Game 4 of the NBA Finals against the Knicks, when a fan named Perez received an unforgettable gesture in response to his classy reaction after getting heckled in New York. That moment turned into a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fly to Indy and meet the Pacers. “I want to personally bring you and a plus one out here to come to Game 4 here in Indiana,” Haliburton had shared back then. “I’ll bring you guys out here, put you guys up, get you guys tickets to the game. Everybody in the organization wants to make sure you’re taken care of. The whole team’s excited to meet you—it’s all we’ve been talking about, everybody’s seen the video.” That’s how Haliburton stepped in for a fan who had been pelted with trash bags simply for wearing his Hali jersey on the streets of Manhattan.
“Haliburton is the man,” wrote another user. No doubt he is. In fact, it seems like Indiana’s stars are wired this way. We’ve already seen Caitlin Clark make heartfelt gestures, too. Remember her first WNBA three-pointer? The shoes she wore that day became a memory, and she made it even more special by gifting them to a young fan near the tunnel after the game. Despite internal frustration with her performance that night, Clark took time to interact with the young fan. That’s the kind of person she is. And it wasn’t a one-time thing. We’ve seen her signing autographs for long queues of fans, even while sidelined due to injury, circling the arena, and spending hours just to make their day.

What’s your perspective on:
Does Haliburton's gesture set a new standard for athlete-fan relationships in sports?
Have an interesting take?
“Think you might need to buy some Hali merch before you head home!” one fan joked. It made sense. Fans who got to enjoy his courtside seats might’ve felt compelled to show appreciation in return. But of course, Haliburton didn’t ask for anything back. We all know he’s been nothing short of a superfan for the Fever, constantly showing up and supporting the team, especially Caitlin Clark. His presence has ranged from electric courtside moments to heartfelt appearances, even while recovering from injury. “@TyHaliburton22 retweet this my guy @PatMcAfeeShow We got a guy in Indiana,” another user exclaimed.
Remember back in August 2024, Haliburton was courtside at Gainbridge Fieldhouse cheering on Caitlin Clark during her standout game against the Mercury, even tweeting, “Hope y’all seeing what 22 doin’ at Gainbridge.” A few weeks later, he showed up again, this time joined by Clark’s boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, celebrating her game-winner against the Sparks on September 5. And on September 8, he pulled double duty: attending the Colts’ season opener, then rushing to watch the Fever’s overtime win against Atlanta.

That’s the kind of love Haliburton has for the Fever. So it’s no surprise when someone wrote, “Getting courtside seats is awesome, but getting Tyrese Haliburton’s courtside seats is absolutely ridiculous! Enjoy the game!” But was it really? Not this time. Due to injury, Haliburton couldn’t make it courtside and instead supported the Fever from a suite, wearing a protective boot. Still, the gesture and presence mattered. And while it may not have been his courtside seats that fans enjoyed this time, his spirit was absolutely in the building!
