Indiana may be off to a rocky start this season, but there’s something keeping the city’s excitement up. “Once again, Indy gets this opportunity to, in front of the entire world, host an incredible event and leave a legacy,” Fever’s VP, Ebony Armstrong, had expressed in joy. The Hoosier culture was already felt when the men’s league took it to the state for their All-Star last year, but with Caitlin Clark in the picture for the W side now, you can imagine the hype. The tickets are out, the voting has set in, but in Indiana, the focus isn’t all on their star player.

The WNBA did not have to think twice when their initial venue did not signal a green light, and they had to look for a new host. With a home attendance of 340,000 fans in 2024, thanks to Clark’s arrival, Indiana was the obvious choice. They haven’t let go of that this year, either.

The Fever’s 16,757 average attendance prior to Clark’s injury was reportedly double that of the next team. Sure, there has been a dip in the viewership since, but the Fever loyals are keeping the spirits high for the entirety of the team. We aren’t just saying that. The support was quite evident when the team announced the first steps towards the big event. We’ll get to that in a while.

But first, the 2025 WNBA All-Star weekend will be held on July 18th and 19th in Indianapolis, marking the first time the Indiana Fever will host the event in franchise history. Unlike last year’s Olympic-themed Team WNBA vs Team USA, this year’s showcase will return to the traditional captains format. The two players who receive the most fan votes will form their teams from the pool of remaining starters and reserves. Fan voting begins on June 12 and will remain open through June 28. The Indiana Fever has, thus, started making a case for its players.

“help us send the squad to #WNBAAllStar2025 happening right here in Indianapolis!” they shared on Instagram. Making up the poster were three previous All-Stars– Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, and Aliyah Boston. Well, dubbed as the three-headed monster of the Fever since the last campaign, that did not look out of place. Well, for a few Indiana loyals, that wasn’t the case.

While three of Fever’s leading scorers rightly took the spot on the poster, spectators were left asking one question: Where is Lexie Hull?

Fans Rally for Lexie Hull to Make 2025 WNBA All-Star Game

Last year, Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston led all players in fan voting and earned their spots in the WNBA All-Star Game, where Team WNBA defeated Team USA 117 to 109. Both Clark and Boston made strong contributions to the win, with Clark recording a game-high 10 assists. This year, while fans still expect the dynamic duo to return to the All-Star stage, there is growing support for a new name in Lexie Hull.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Lexie Hull the underdog hero the WNBA All-Star Game needs this year?

Have an interesting take?

“Why is Lexi not here?” One fan wrote. Hull has been a revelation for the Indiana Fever this season, pushing her boundaries and also the squad’s. Her energy has been immaculate and has been solid on both ends of the court. She has had more responsibility than last season, playing 10 more minutes per game. And she has handled that responsibility well by increasing her output on all metrics.

“Let’s push that Lexie Hull agenda too folks! She’s balled out and has never been an all star,” added another, highlighting a growing sentiment among Fever supporters who believe Hull’s recent performances deserve national recognition. Her impact has been heavily felt on the court, especially her outside shooting. She has the best 3-point percentage on the team and the third-best in the league with 52.2%. This has brought a different dimension to the Fever. The push to see her earn an All-Star nod is as much about rewarding hard work and growth as it is about elevating overlooked talent in the WNBA.

“Vote for Lexie Hull!!! Most improved player so far this year!! Caitlin Clark wants her best friend with her!” wrote another fan. Lexie Hull is averaging 9.6 points, 1.6 assists, and 4.6 rebounds per game this season, stepping up in a way that has far exceeded expectations. Her scoring has nearly doubled compared to her previous seasons, where she hovered around 5 points per game. So naturally, she is now a contender for the Most Improved Player Award.

Beyond the points, her contributions on the glass and her involvement in playmaking have also reached career highs. In nearly every major statistical category, this has been Hull’s most complete and impactful season yet, showcasing her growth, confidence, and value to the Indiana Fever lineup. Her camaraderie with Caitlin Clark has also been noticeable, with both players leaving playful comments under each other’s posts. Don’t be surprised if Clark herself votes for Hull.

“put Lexie in the all star graphic’s already 😭  she’s just as deserving!!” read another comment. Lexie has proved her worth on the court, but the three in the graphic are the franchise’s most important players on and off the court. On the other hand, Lexi Hull is just building her fandom and popularity. And well, we are getting to see it at the right time.

With fans accounting for 50 percent of the vote, and current players and a media panel each contributing 25 percent, public sentiment will play a major role in shaping the final roster. Hull’s rise in fan attention reflects a shift in how voters are approaching the selection process, placing greater value on performance, improvement, and effort rather than focusing solely on the most recognizable names.
