All good things come to an end, but A’ja Wilson surely didn’t want one to come at this crucial juncture. In Game 4 at the Indiana Fever’s home court, A’ja Wilson returned to top form after a poor 30% shooting in Game 3. She ended the game with 31 points and 9 rebounds on 14-24 shooting. But the Indiana Fever came away with a season-saving 90-83 win. But this win is significant in more ways, because Wilson had to take more than one L.

Lately, A’ja Wilson’s success has had a direct impact on the Las Vegas Aces’ results. It is very rare for A’ja Wilson to have an epic performance, and it doesn’t result in the Aces coming out of the game with a win. Like Rachel A DeMita said after Game 1 of the semis, hold A’ja below 20 or the Aces win. But now, despite Wilson’s 25+ points, the Aces lost. And it is not random, because it has happened for the first time in history!

Till today’s game, the Aces were 11-0 whenever A’ja Wilson scored more than 25 points. However, led by Aliyah Boston’s record-breaking night, Kelsey Mitchell’s 25 points, and Odyssey Sims’ 18-point contribution, the Indiana Fever spoiled the day for Wilson and the Aces. Throughout the game, A’ja Wilson tried her best to avoid traveling to Las Vegas Aces for Game 5, but with quiet games from Chelsea Gray and Dana Evans, the Aces could not overcome the Indiana Fever’s intensity.

The main battle in the game was between two former South Carolina alumni, A’ja Wilson and Aliyah Boston. Unlike the last game, A’ja Wilson started strong and finished the first quarter with a double-digit score, scoring 5 of 7 and 10 points. But in the second quarter, Aliyah Boston made some adjustments and was able to slow her down to just 2 points! But A’ja was back to her usual self in the second half, scoring 19 points, but in vain. A’ja and Aliyah Boston took turns taking on each other, and both scored and-1 buckets on each other.

It was a close game from start to end, to say the least. The game had 11 lead changes, and the biggest lead was just ten points. However, the Los Angeles Aces only led briefly, with their biggest lead being two points. The Las Vegas Aces also had some shortcomings that made things even harder for them. Even though there was a big difference between the throws attempted (11 for Aces and 34 for Indiana), the Aces missed crucial free throws.

What’s surprising is that all three misses were from A’ja Wilson. There was another embarrassing moment for the Las Vegas Aces coaching staff. With 36.6 seconds remaining and the Aces down 7, Becky Hammon called for a timeout. The only issue was that they didn’t have any. This crucial error made any hopes of a comeback disappear as Indiana scored the technical free-throw. Although the game ended disappointingly, A’ja Wilson had yet another record-breaking night.

A’ja Wilson’s list of WNBA records gets another addition

In Game 3, she became the player with the third-most blocks in WNBA playoffs history. And now, in the loss against the Indiana Fever, she has set yet another record. With her 31-point explosive performance, A’ja Wilson became the player with the second-most 30+ point games in WNBA playoffs history. She is just behind Breanna Stewart and Diana Taurasi, with both of them having recorded eight such games.

The Aces’ uptick in performance was so big that A’ja Wilson was named the MVP for a record-breaking fourth time despite trailing behind Napheesa Collier for most of the time. However, in this historic year, there were more records broken by her. A’ja became the first-ever player to average 20 points and 10 rebounds in a season multiple times. She also set the record for having the most 30-point games in the season (13 games).

So, with at least one more game left in the Aces’ season, there is a good chance that she could join the two at the time in just a few days. But when A’ja Wilson and the Los Angeles Aces started the 2025 season slowly, nobody had expected them to be where they are right now. The first half of the season, with a 14-14 record and a 53-point defeat, was an unlikely representation of a championship team like the Aces. However, in the second half of the season, the team flipped the script with a 16-game win streak.
