It’s halftime at TD Garden in Boston, and the Indiana Fever holds a slim 2-point lead over the Connecticut Sun. It’s been a tightly fought contest so far. But if you’re wondering why the Fever haven’t been able to pull away just yet? It has a lot to do with Aliyah Boston! She hasn’t looked like herself tonight.
Aliyah Boston started the game 0-4 from the field, and will be hoping that things improve in the second half. And she’s not the only one hoping for that. So far, she’s managed just 1 point from the free-throw line and has grabbed 4 rebounds. Not the kind of impact fans or the Fever were expecting, and something’s gotta shift in the second half.
Early in the second quarter, Coach Stephanie White made a clear demand from the team and Aliyah, “Yeah, I mean, we gotta get her more touches. We gotta find a way to get her, of course they’re coming at scene with two, two players. She’s gotta be a little bit more aggressive when she gets it, but we gotta get her touches in position to be successful.”

The Fever have turned the ball over 6 times already and are getting bullied in the paint. The Sun have outrebounded the Fever by 5. But perhaps the most humiliating thing of them all is the fact that 7 of their 22 first-half rebounds were actually offensive rebounds. That trend continued in the third quarter as well! 4 of their 12 third-quarter rebounds were offensive boards. So you can probably guess why Coach White wants Boston to be more aggressive.

Not quite the homecoming Aliyah Boston would’ve hoped for. With friends and family watching from the stands at TD Garden, the night had all the makings of a special one. After all, Boston has deep ties to the city! She moved to Massachusetts at age 12 and made a name for herself at Worcester Academy. But as much as we love a perfect homecoming story, sometimes the basketball gods have other plans.
Aliyah Boston’s bond with the city grew even stronger a few days ago when she made headlines with a major investment move. What am I talking about? Let’s take a look!
