The Indiana Fever are all set to begin their playoff run, but less than 24 hours before their first-round clash with the Las Vegas Aces, an Aliyah Boston update has suddenly given fans something to worry about. After the Aces knocked Indiana out in the semifinals last season, this three-game series has been circled on calendars all around the WNBA. But now, Boston’s availability has become an unexpected question mark.

With three-time WNBA champion A’ja Wilson leading the Aces, Boston’s presence is crucial for Indiana. The 6-foot-5 center has shown throughout this season that she can make life difficult for Wilson. However, in the Fever’s latest injury report, the team has listed Boston as questionable with a right lower-leg issue. And this has immediately sent Fever fans into reaction mode, with some already looking ahead to what Indiana’s offense will need to do if Boston cannot go.
“Boston injuries plague season will be our downfall, Clark and Mitchell have to go OFF,” a fan wrote under Indiana’s Fever injury report via X.
“Lowkey 😭 I rather see her recover. No point in playing while being hurt, 😭” another added.
The Indiana Fever have been dominant this season because they have leaned heavily on their three-headed attack, with Boston playing a major role alongside Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell. Losing any of them would be a major blow, especially at a stage where every game carries the possibility of elimination. And while her ‘questionable’ tag could ultimately be precautionary, the timing is hard to overlook given the lower-leg issues that have followed Aliyah Boston throughout the season.
Boston has dealt with a lower-leg injury several times this season, which has even forced her to miss some games. But the latest concern comes after she was forced to leave Indiana’s regular-season finale against the Minnesota Lynx with less than three minutes remaining in the first half.
During her postgame media availability, head coach Stephanie White assured fans it was “just a flare-up.” Still, the latest update has left some fans worried, and others annoyed.

With Tyasha Harris already set to miss the playoffs, the concern is understandable, especially considering what she has already done against the Aces this season. Aliyah Boston was exceptional across all three regular-season matchups against Las Vegas, averaging a double-double of 19.3 points and 11.0 rebounds per game.
In the first meeting, she took control of the paint and finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season. Then in Indiana’s 34-point blowout victory, she once again anchored the effort and posted 19 points, 11 rebounds, and three steals while helping the Fever hold the Aces to just 39% shooting from the field.
Even when the Fever fell to the Aces in an overtime loss, Boston was a huge problem for Wilson and Co., as she finished with 21 points, 12 rebounds, and three steals.
Yet as her status leaves many concerned, one fan speculated that the only reason her name appeared on the injury report was that she is attempting to avoid playing the MVP.
“Ducking A’ja Wilson,” wrote the fan.
Whether Aliyah Boston’s questionable tag is simply precautionary or something more serious, the Fever will certainly be hoping their starting center is ready when the playoff battle with Las Vegas finally tips off.
