After an exceptional regular season in which the Indiana Fever displayed their offensive prowess to the fullest, they had quite a shaky finish. From an abrupt first-round exit at the hands of reigning champions Las Vegas Aces to the departures of team president Kelly Krauskopf and general manager Amber Cox, the ship is sailing through the storms. However, the offensive firepower that propelled Indiana into the playoffs is now bearing fruit, with Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell earning selections to the 2026 All-WNBA First Team.

This is both Clark’s and Mitchell’s second All-WNBA First Team honor, and it is certainly their most deserved one to date, because getting onto the First Team is tough for teammates, let alone ones sharing a backcourt. For Clark, it has been a mentally grueling journey back to the top after she had played only 13 games in the 2025 season due to multiple lower-body injuries. And sure enough, it did not take long for the congratulatory posts to drop, including one from the Fever’s NBA counterpart.

“Never a doubt,” the Indiana Pacers’ official handle wrote on X, quoting Caitlin Clark’s All-WNBA First Team selection.

Clark had a season for the ages. The third-year pro averaged 22.3 points (third-highest) and 8.3 assists (second-highest) in the league this season, becoming the only player in WNBA history to finish in the top three for both points and assists. Furthermore, the 24-year-old’s playmaking proficiency was at its best, setting a new league record with 41.2 points created per game.

But let’s not forget Kelsey Mitchell, who arguably had her greatest season in her ninth year in the W. The Fever guard finished third in league MVP voting behind A’ja Wilson and Olivia Miles (both included in the All-WNBA First Team) after averaging 24.7 points per game in the regular season, the second-highest behind the five-time MVP.

The highlight of Mitchell’s season came when she broke the league record for most points in a regular season. The 30-year-old ended with 1,086 points, comfortably surpassing Wilson’s record of 1,021. Mitchell’s backcourt partner even shared some kind words during her exit interview.

“Kelsey, in my opinion, had the best season of any guard that there’s ever been in this league… [It’s] just really fun to get to play alongside her,” Clark said.

But together, Clark and Mitchell became even more lethal. They averaged 47 points per game, more than any other backcourt duo in WNBA history. The duo also brought home three of the four Eastern Conference Player of the Month honors and earned Player of the Week honors a combined five times.

Safe to say, Clark and Mitchell complement each other’s playstyles to perfection, something that has brought great joy to the Fever fanbase this season. However, with the veteran guard going into unrestricted free agency this offseason, it will be interesting to see how the new-look Fever front office handles her contract situation.
