Just a few days ago, Sophie Cunningham led the Indiana Fever to a win over the Connecticut Sun by knocking down three clutch three-pointers in the final two minutes of the game. So as she played against the Toronto Tempo on Tuesday night, she made sure to pick up right where she left off. The 29-year-old became one of the top scorers on the team with 24 points and 6 rebounds as Indiana went on to secure a 22-point margin win. And as it turns out, all it took was one injection.

“I think that elbow injection really helped me, not even gonna lie,” the guard joked.
Here’s the thing: to understand why she said what she said, we have to go back a week, when Sophie Cunningham had to sit out vs. the Chicago Sky with a sore right elbow. But after she came in clutch against the Sun, many fans started wondering just how serious the injury really was. Even Caitlin Clark joined in on the fun, joking after the game that her teammate had “a new elbow.” Of course, there has been no indication that she actually received any special treatment beyond the normal recovery process. She was simply leaning into the joke before giving the real reason behind her recent surge.
“But no, on a real note, I just knew that it was a matter of time until I started hitting my shots, and it’s the same thing for everyone on our team,” she added. “Sometimes it’s going to be me. Sometimes it’s going to be (Lexi), Caitlin, (Aliyah), and so we just have so many threats offensively. But my teammates were also sharing the ball tonight, and I think it just kind of shows the potential of our offense.”
In this game, Sophie Cunningham looked completely comfortable. She was knocking down shots from all over the floor and gave the Fever exactly the kind of secondary scoring punch they have been searching for all season. The veteran guard went 8-11 from the field and 6-7 from beyond the arc. However, despite her offensive explosion, she wasn’t even Indiana’s leading scorer.
That honor belonged to Kelsey Mitchell, who continued her outstanding season with 27 points on an ultra-efficient 9-of-11 shooting. But let’s be honest, this is becoming business as usual for Mitchell. With a 20.3-point average per game, she has consistently delivered for Indiana all season long.
But while their individual performances stood out, the biggest takeaway from their latest win may have been how the Fever finished the game.
Throughout the 2026 season, Indiana has repeatedly built double-digit leads only to watch their opponents fight their way back into the game, which cost them the match or forced them to grind out close wins. However, against the Toronto Tempo, that pattern was never to be seen.

After creating separation in the second half, the Fever kept their foot on the gas and eventually pulled away with a convincing 113-91 victory, which marked the franchise’s highest point total ever scored in regulation.
The Fever have now won four straight games and are finally starting to resemble the team many expected to see before the season began. Their offense is flowing, the chemistry is improving, and contributions are coming from all over the roster. So now all that is left to see is whether nights like this are becoming the norm.
