Many fans and analysts call Las Vegas Aces’ Jackie Young the silent assassin. Aptly enough, the “original rookie,” according to A’ja Wilson, likes to stay quiet more than anything when on or off the court. Over her WNBA career, we have seen her close to many people. Mostly, these are her teammates and other basketball players. Her sweet gesture to Caitlin Clark also went viral recently as she showed the rookie some love. But what about her personal connections?

The 3×3 Olympic gold medalist has kept it discreet. So much so that none of her social media platforms give us any glimpse of her personal relationships. So we cannot say for sure whether she is dating someone or not. However, this does not mean that the 26-year-old has no one in her life. In fact, her family and friends come at the top of the priority list. Hence, let us dive into these people who Jackie Young holds close to her heart.

Jackie Young’s mother helped them navigate through a difficult childhood

Born in Princeton, Indiana, the 26-year-old professional baller has achieved a lot in her life when it comes to the basketball court. But most of this came out of her need to support her single mother, Linda Young. She has two siblings, an older brother Terrence, and a younger sister Kiare. Surprisingly, all three have played basketball at some point in their lives.

Last month, the veteran shooting guard talked to Sports Illustrated about how her mother struggled to keep food on the table and bring clothes for the family of four. She said, “My mother struggled (financially) my whole life.”

She had also opened up about the difficult childhood to The Times, My mom, a single mother, made a lot of sacrifices for me and my siblings.” Her extended family helped out with the challenges as well. But of course, now she has an even bigger family as she became a part of the Las Vegas Aces.

Finding a new home in Las Vegas

The 2x WNBA champion landed in Las Vegas as the first overall pick in 2019. Then, Wilson made a sisterly connection to her. The then-reigning Rookie of the Year even called Young the original rookie for the new location of the franchise, as she wanted to become a veteran to someone. When the Sin City franchise welcomed their Notre Dame alum, Wilson said, “Jackie was kind of like our first rookie that we had.”

She further added, “We already were pretty much established, in a sense, so I wanted to make sure that I could be that vet that I didn’t have for her and answer all the questions that she needed, making sure that she was comfortable.” While Las Vegas is becoming a dynasty that keeps its players very lovingly, what is visible between A’ja Wilson and Jackie Young is quite special.

Currently, Jackie Young has become one of the lethal offensive weapons for the reigning champions as they enter their three-peat era. What is more eye-catching is that when the group’s leader Wilson is not available on the floor, it is the No. 0 who the fans see score for them. However, it will be interesting to finally unveil who the talented pro spends her off-court time with.
