“They have the experience and have really held this group together. They’ve been able to play with all different kinds of lineups and players. They’ve got to continue to take it to another level,” said Stephanie White about the roster development in light of injury woes. Going into the playoffs, 5 key Indiana Fever players were sidelined due to injury issues. In light of this, secondary players, like Lexie Hull, were promoted to starters and given additional responsibilities. White’s strategy worked well, and the Fever currently holds a 1-0 lead in the Semi-Finals. However, with another injury issue having propped up, the Fever’s progress is threatened.

According to reports, Lexie Hull is set to be questionable for Tuesday’s matchup against the Las Vegas Aces. This update comes after Hull was seen wearing a heat therapy pad around her lower back during the Fever’s shootaround Tuesday morning. Despite that, she still participated normally during shootaround.

Fortunately, though, after a few hours, Indiana Pacers/Indiana Fever beat reporter Scott Agness reported on Stephaine White’s pre-game comments, and highlighted that “Lexie Hull (back) will play — and start.” Furthermore, the Fever head coach highlighted that the back injury occurred probably in the 1st Quarter of Game 1. While Hull woke up with discomfort, she also went through her 27-minute warmup.
Lexie Hull was promoted to the starter role in order to get that resilience out of the existing roster. During Game 1 against the Aces, she played a whopping 35 minutes, which was a jump from the 27 minutes Hull averaged over the course of 44 games in the 2025 WNBA regular season.

Hull isn’t the best player to have on the offense, since she only averaged 7.2 points through 2.7-6.8 (39.5%) field goals, 1.3-3.4 (36.7%) 3-pointers, and 0.6-0.8 (72.2%) free throws during the regular season. However, she has been lauded as one of the best defenders on the Fever roster, as she ranks 5th this season, amongst her team peers, with a 103.5 defensive rating. Therefore, losing her for Game 2 would have been a blow for the Indiana Fever squad, who are looking to make the Finals for the first time since 2015.
Even though the 26-year-old has made herself available for Game 2, she is not completely out of the woods yet. After all, as she admitted, she is far from being perfectly fine.
Lexie Hull Is Looking To Forget About Soreness During the Playoffs
During the pre-game workout, Lexie Hull participated in a Q&A session with a few media members. During the same time, she was asked about how her body feels at this time of the year, since she has already gone through a regular season and 4 games in the playoffs.

Hull replied, “I’m a little sore. Not gonna lie. It’s catching up to me, but we’re going to just keep getting warm, keep going out there trying to forget about the pain a little bit. But that’s just the part of the year. Everyone is playing with a little bit of bumps and bruises and, again, you just kind of forget about that in the playoffs”.
The absence of key players and the pressure of the playoffs are taking their toll on Hull. While the player only scored 6 points during Game 1 against the Las Vegas Aces, the starting backcourt combined for 32 points through 14-28 shooting. Furthermore, on the defensive end, Hull was being kept busy by Chelsea Grey and Jackie Young. She reportedly helped the Fever limit the Aces’ shooting to just 29.4% from the arc.

Lexie Hull’s answer about her pain level in the postseason was illuminating. IMO the avg fan underestimates how much these athletes try to play thru, especially someone as physical as Lexie is. You can even see Lexie plotting how to answer the question before it’s fully asked 😅 pic.twitter.com/NJSmxyMxJv

Lexie Hull’s availability is paramount to the Indiana Fever right now. After all, as Broadcaster Robin Lundberg tweeted, “The Fever cannot withstand a Lexie Hull injury. That would be a true backbreaker”. Any additional issues, and the Indiana Fever would reportedly be down to just 9 available players. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether Lexie Hull will fare well in Game 2 while simultaneously being conscious about her health.
