The Athletic reporter Marcus Thompson II once revealed that, “Jewell Loyd doesn’t do starstruck. Never has.” An exception, however, exists when it comes to A’ja Wilson. It was only recently when Loyd gushed over the 2025 WNBA MVP’s motor and her daunting presence, stating that her prowess is “like a lion, you know?” Therefore, what do you say when you manage to accomplish something even the person you were starstruck with couldn’t?

According to ESPN and Andscape reporter Sean Hurd, the Las Vegas Aces’ recent Game 4 win does more than provide Jewell Loyd with her 3rd championship title. It makes her a player who has NEVER lost even a single game while in the WNBA Finals! The 32-year-old is now 10-0 in the WNBA Finals.

Jewell Loyd’s first championship run came back in 2018, when she was with the Seattle Storm. She played a crucial role in the 3-game series against the Washington Mystics, averaging 14.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.7 assists. Loyd gave the Seattle Storm a major push during Game 1, as she tied for the game-high 23 points through her 9-12 (75.0%) field goals, 3-3 (100.0%) 3-pointers, and 2-2 (100.0%) free throws.

Loyd’s 2nd championship was earned back in 2020, when she was still with the Seattle Storm. Her performance saw a jump in that Finals series, as she averaged 18.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.0 assists against, ironically, the Las Vegas Aces! Her performance in Game 1 of that series as well was the game high, as Jewell Loyd recorded 28 points, along with 4 rebounds and 4 assists, through 11-17 (64.7%) field goals, 2-5 (40.0%) 3-pointers, and 4-4 (100.0%) free throws.

Meanwhile, A’ja Wilson has played in 15 games in the WNBA Finals and lost 5 of them. 3 of them came against Loyd’s Seattle Storm in 2020, one against the Connecticut Sun in 2022, and another against the New York Liberty in 2023. Then again, a record like an unbeatable streak is a team effort, and doesn’t speak to an individual’s prowess. Furthermore, even if A’ja Wilson is aware of Loyd’s record, she still holds the player in close regard.

A’ja Wilson Revealed Being Glad Jewell Loyd Plays For Her Team

In the aftermath of Game 3, A’ja Wilson spoke to the media. During the same time, she admitted that “I had a front row seat to a sweep in the bubble with Jewell (Loyd) with Gold Kobes on. I’m grateful that she’s now with us for sure. … I’m glad she got her A’Ones now.”

In her recent run with the Las Vegas Aces, it would have been quite easy for Loyd to get overshadowed by A’ja Wilson and other players. Despite that, she still contributed valuably through her 13.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 0.5 assists in the last 4 games. Thanks to their already impressive star-studded roster, the Aces managed to get the better use of Loyd by having her come off the bench. According to reports, leading the second unit was an adjustment for Loyd. Then again, having started in only 25 of her 44 games in the regular season, she knew what she had to do. She expressed this clearly through the remark, “I know my role really well”.

That unbeatable record might not stay forever. Then again, it won’t matter if more and more championships keep coming the star’s way.
