Angel Reese is ready to run it back. This one’s not just for the team, but also for her. Mid-rangers, three-pointers– she is going all in. Nothing could offer a better look at the progress than her off-season with Unrivaled. “It’s great to see the results out there. But obviously, I’m not done yet,” she declared. Yet, in spite of her individual success and the obvious expansion of her game, the Chi-Town Barbie can’t seem to sway her teammates’ opinions in her favor.
Angel Reese and her draftmate, Kamilla Cardoso, have gone on to become one of the frontcourt duos to watch out for. They are the bigs the Chicago Sky will be banking on for the upcoming season. Ain’t nobody getting rebounds on us,” they’d even joke. But when it came to a big question, the former Gamecock had Reese’s rival as the answer.
In the short clip posted on X by ‘correlation’ (@nosyone4), the Brazilian was asked who she thinks is the most promising player in the WNBA apart from herself. Kamilla wasted no time in naming Caitlin Clark.

The two have previously spent a fair amount of time together while filming the ‘Full Court Press’ documentary and have shared mutual respect. While you could see Cardoso’s here, the Fever star has previously given her fellow draftee her flowers, too. “I am a big fan of hers… She’s going to be a very talented player in this league. I know how many problems she can cause– her length, her shot blocking ability, her finishing ability around the rim. Plus, she runs the floor really well for her size,” Clark had went on as Cardoso debuted for Chicago last season.
The Sky center finished her rookie season averaging 9.8 points and 7.8 rebounds, albeit a re-aggravated shoulder injury would cut her campaign short. But alongside Reese, she is ready too make a mark too this season. After a successful off-season in China, Cardoso is “just ready for the season to start.” The Windy City expects her to be the key to their offense this year, having loaded the team with perimeter shooters and facilitators.
Now, as she continues her ascension in the league, she takes inspiration from those who ran the court before her, from the land of her own. So, CC wasn’t the only Indiana Fever star on Cardoso’s list. “Erica de Souza, Damiris Dantas, and Hortência,” the sky star names, upon being asked three Brazilians who were inspiring in her career.

What’s your perspective on:
Can Angel Reese prove her doubters wrong and lead the Chicago Sky to a winning season?
Have an interesting take?
Damiris Dantas is returning to the Fever as a 9-year veteran, ready to add depth and experience– she has been to the playoffs 9 times now, the most of anyone on her team. Away from the league, she has been representing Brazil since 2011, adding multiple gold and bronze medals. Only right Cardoso looks up to her.

But these are the very players the Sky will be facing in their first game of the season. For head coach Tyler Marsh and the team, it will be crucial to kick off on the right note, aiming to secure that playoff spot that eluded them last year.
Will Chicago’s offensive woes carry on this season?
As the Chicago Sky get ready to start their 20th season in the league, they face growing expectations. They went 13-24 last season, battling injuries and lacking stability in the locker room. After the abrupt firing of head coach Teresa Weatherspoon, the Windy City is now looking to start a new chapter with coach Tyler Marsh.

The HC is aiming to improve on the shooting after the Sky recorded some of the worst offensive stats in the league last season. This stood 10th in offensive rating and was 11th in points scored per game. One of the major weaknesses was in perimeter shooting, and trading Marina Mabrey to the Connecticut Sun did not help their case.
The franchise has added Ariel Atkins in the hopes of improving on that front. Plus, Courtney Vandersloot, one the best point guards in the league is making a return. Hailey Van Lith further strengths the hopes as Reese and Cardoso take care of the front court. Marsh’s impressive track record with the likes of A’ja Wilson and Jackie Young is known. Now Chicago awaits it to translate with the Sky.
