The Las Vegas Aces have hit the Barclays Center and are in action against the New York Liberty. However, they’re missing a key player this time around. While it’s unclear who might step up to fill A’ja Wilson’s shoes on the court, Kate Martin is making sure the star’s absence is not felt in any off-court moment during the team’s arrival.

Rookies typically look up to their veteran teammates, eager to learn from their experience—and it looks like Kate Martin is doing just that. At least when it comes to fashion. A video surfaced over X which spotted the Aces rookie arriving at Barclays Center while donning a white tee. A New York based journalist, Aliyah Funschelle posted the video and wrote, “Kate Martin with the white tee 👀.”

Interestingly, her outfit gave a resemblance to that of Wilson’s iconic outfit which she wears most of the time before the game when she is locked in to cause some menace for the opponents. Unfortunately, the 2x MVP was sidelined with a lower right-leg injury and it is said to be a precautionary move before play-offs. If Kate Martin gets some playtime, it’ll be intriguing to see if she can match her seasoned teammate’s performance as well.

However, despite being unavailable for team, the Aces forward did show with a walking boot on her right foot while she adorned a tee picturing younger version of her former coach Dawn Staley. While the outfit was certainly eye-catching, Wilson usually opts for a conventional look for pregame outfits.

A’ja Wilson always keeps it simple

While many players make headlines with their bold and stylish outfits, A’ja Wilson prefers to keep it simple. The 28-year-old forward often sticks to a classic look and often opts for a plain white tee and track pants if she has a game to rock. And if you think she feels left out or conscious for not keeping up with trends followed by others, forget it because that’s definitely not the case.

Wilson has revealed the only thing she aims for is ‘victory’ on the gamedays. “I have to want to put on clothes. Right now, where I am, I don’t feel like I deserve to put on clothes. … Right now, my main focus is just getting wins,” said the star forward earlier in an interview with Las Vegas Review Journal.

That plain white tee has become a symbol of A’ja Wilson’s dedication to winning for the Aces. As she put it, “digging in the bottom of my T-shirt drawer, and I’m putting on a shirt and I’m getting out.” With Wilson sidelined, Kate Martin’s outfit choice seems to suggest that Wilson’s influence is making its mark on the next generation of players.
