The WNBA is on a roll with storylines everywhere. While some teams climb the standings, three remain winless—including the Western Conference’s Dallas Wings (0-4). Yet, on the eve of a key matchup against the also-winless Connecticut Sun, the Wings were grooving on social media—and some fans, along with DiJonai Carrington, didn’t find it funny.

The Dallas Wings’ official account posted a TikTok clip to X with the caption “Mood for tomorrow.” In it, Arike Ogunbowale led the team in a casual dance on the court, while her teammates clapped along, tossing in some light-hearted Zaza flair.

This came just before the WNBA matchup against the Sun, for which the ESPN matchup predictor gave the Wings a 59.9% chance of victory. But it’s important to remember — this is also Paige Bueckers’ WNBA debut at Connecticut.

Her “home away from home” Connecticut, has always been Paige’s playground. Undefeated in all 15 games she played there during her UConn career—including a flawless 12-0 record in Big East Tournament games—Bueckers was built for moments like this. The arena that once cheered her in blue and white now watched her in teal, as Dallas’s number-one pick and leading scorer (13.0 PPG) will try once again to carry a struggling franchise to its first win.

And although Ogunbowale’s a natural performer and has some great moves — remember, she once competed on Dancing with the Stars — this time, her performance hit a nerve. One scroll through the replies, and you’d know the vibes weren’t landing.

Fans split as Wings post dance video as Carrington keeps it serious before Connecticut game

One fan commented, “DiJonai was not impressed at all lol,” referencing teammate DiJonai Carrington’s seemingly unamused expression during the video. Carrington, known for her intense focus and competitive spirit, has been a standout player, earning the WNBA’s Most Improved Player award in 2024 and being named to the All-Defensive First Team, hence, it’s no wonder that she didn’t find the dance that impressive.

What’s your perspective on:

Are the Dallas Wings' playful antics a sign of team chemistry or a distraction from their 0-4 slump?

Have an interesting take?

Another fan said, “DiJonai got me in freaking tears,” highlighting the contrast between Carrington’s serious demeanor and the team’s playful antics. This juxtaposition has become a talking point among fans, with some appreciating the levity and others questioning the timing.

However, not all reactions were lighthearted. One fan bluntly posted, Get a damn win. Y’all killing our souls out here, capturing the frustration of a fanbase desperate for a breakthrough. But hey, there might just be a light at the end of this losing tunnel. The Wings are set to face the equally struggling Connecticut Sun and, more specifically, Marina Mabrey. With both teams stuck in identical 0-4 slumps and enduring brutal shooting spells—Dallas at 39.7% from the field and Connecticut even worse at 37.6%—this one feels like a toss-up.

Another added, “Dawg we going 0-44,” a dramatic—yet not entirely far-fetched—dig at the Wings’ rough start.

Statistically, Dallas holds a slight edge in points per game (77.8 to 68.0), steals (8.0 to 4.8), and assists (17.8 to 17.3), while Connecticut brings stronger shot-blocking and a tighter defense to the table. With both teams riding four-game losing streaks, though, this one might come down to grit more than numbers.

One fan even added a GIF of a shouting woman and wrote, “You know what I’m in the mood for? A W.”

The fans are definitely bringing the energy from the sidelines—but maybe moments like these, lighthearted and loose, are exactly what the team needs to build some chemistry and finally get in the win column.
